It has taken three days for Levi to begin to transition to the world of humans. He still hisses when I pick him up, hisses when I put him in his bag, hisses when I move him around on my lap. But it's becoming less and less. Each Joey is so different and I have never had a Joey before that hisses like this guy does. He doesn't seem scared as he will hop to me and go right into his pouch. But if I reach down and pick him up the hissing routine begins!

🦘❤️ The Little Joey Who Wouldn’t Let Go

Early one peaceful morning in the Australian bush, a tiny joey followed his mother through the soft green grass. The world around him was enormous, but he felt safe whenever he was close to her. 🌿🦘

Suddenly, a strange sound came from the trees.

The little joey stopped.

He looked around nervously, then quickly moved toward his mother and pressed himself against her. His mother remained calm. She stood between her baby and the unfamiliar world, watching carefully and making sure he was safe. ❤️

The joey slowly looked up at her.

She was still there.

So he stayed close.

For a little while, the two simply stood together in the morning sunlight. No words were needed. The mother didn't need to promise anything—the way she stayed beside him was the promise.

“I’m here. You’re safe.” 🥹❤️

One day, that little joey will grow strong. He'll explore the bush, jump across open fields, and eventually travel farther from his mother.

But this moment will always be the beginning of his story—the moment he learned that when the world feels frightening, there is always comfort in the arms of someone who loves you.

Sometimes, the smallest animals can remind us of the biggest things in life.

Love. Protection. Family. And never letting go. 🦘❤️
