📣 HEADS UP! A LITTLE REMINDER ABOUT MY BIG GENTLE GIANTS! 🐾💙
I just wanted to take a minute to explain why dogs weighing over 110 pounds are charged $90 per hour for grooming.
First off, I absolutely LOVE my big pups! ❤️ They can be the sweetest, most gentle giants in the world, and I love getting to work with them. However, grooming extra-large dogs comes with some challenges that people don’t always realize!
🐾 It’s physically demanding! Big dogs can be difficult to maneuver on a grooming table or in the tub. Sometimes I have to help lift their front end or back end, support them while standing, or help them reposition throughout their groom. This puts a lot of strain on my back, shoulders, arms, and legs.
🐾 Safety is a big factor! Even the sweetest dogs can shift their weight unexpectedly, lean against me, lose their balance, or sit down when I’m trying to work. With a dog weighing 110+ pounds, even a small movement can be a lot for one person to handle safely.
🐾 They take more time and product! Bigger dogs require more shampoo, conditioner, water, drying time, and physical effort. Their coats can take significantly longer to wash, dry, brush out, and finish.
🐾 It’s a one-on-one job! I’m the one doing the bathing, drying, brushing, trimming, lifting, and handling. I don’t have an extra set of hands to help me reposition a large dog, so I have to work carefully and at a pace that keeps both the pup and me safe.
🐾 My body matters, too! I want to continue doing what I love for years to come. Grooming is physically demanding work, and properly handling extra-large dogs takes strength, patience, time, and care. Charging by the hour helps account for the extra work involved.
Starting at over 110 pounds, the rate is $90 per hour, including the grooming services and add-ons covered by this hourly rate.
This isn’t about punishing anyone for having a big dog! It’s about making sure I’m fairly compensated for the extra time, labor, and physical demands involved while still giving your pup the best care possible. 💙
Thank you all for understanding, supporting my small business, and trusting me with your sweet pups, big and small! I appreciate every single one of you more than you know! 🐶🩵
