πΎ A Chapter Comes to an End at Golden Hearts πΎ
After a lot of thought, many conversations, and a series of unfortunate circumstances with our beloved Golden Retrievers, we have made the decision to officially retire from breeding Golden Retrievers.
This was not a decision we took lightly, but after everything that happened, we knew without hesitation that it was the right decision for our dogs and for our family. Our first girl, Kimber, grew older and, as nature intended, her time as a momma came to an end.
Then came Caliber. During her last litter, she experienced an unexpected and heartbreaking act of God that resulted in the loss of three puppies. In the process, Caliber required an operation that ultimately ended her ability to continue as a momma for us. π
And then our sweet R***r. During a routine grooming appointment, our groomer noticed a mass in a very private area. That discovery led to vet appointments, testing, and ultimately surgery to remove potential cancer. Thankfully, we were able to take care of R***r, but the surgery left him sterile and unable to continue as a stud.
One thing we want everyone to know is that these dogs were never just our breeding dogs. They were and always will be our beloved inside dogs, our companions, and members of our family.
When we started Golden Hearts, our motto was simple:
We wanted everyone to have the experience of owning a Golden. πΆπAnd what a privilege it has been. We loved meeting families. We loved watching the excitement as you picked out your new lifelong FUR-EVER companion. We loved getting to know the people who would become part of our Golden Hearts family and seeing our puppies leave our home and begin their lives with families who would love and care for them.
We took that responsibility incredibly seriously. Where our puppies went mattered to us. We never wanted them to go anywhere that wasn't going to give them the same love, care, attention, and commitment we would give them ourselves.
And one of our favorite parts has been watching them grow. π₯Ή
The pictures.
The updates.
The stories.
The birthdays.
The adventures.
The families who continued to share their lives with us long after their puppy left our home. Those are the things that made this so much more than breeding. Those are the memories we will bring with us. β€οΈ
While this chapter of Golden Hearts is coming to an end, we are incredibly grateful for every family who trusted us with a piece of their heart and every puppy who came through our home and left a little piece of theirs behind. We may be closing the breeding chapter, but we aren't closing the memories. Thank you for allowing us to be part of your family, for trusting us, for loving our puppies, and for sharing their lives with us.
The love, the memories, and the paw prints they've left on our hearts will never go away. πΎ
With love,
Golden Hearts πβ¨
