WOW it’s been a busy few months tackling a few projects around the farm!
Every improvement we make is done with a few key goals in mind. Continuing to elevate the quality of care, comfort, safety, and overall experience for both our horses and owners. Thoughtful changes behind the scenes make a big difference in the day-to-day life of every horse here, and we’re excited to share just a few of the many updates with you.
😎 Last summer we added A/C to the horse barn. This has been such a great addition during extreme heat, especially on hot farrier days or if horses need a comfortable break from the weather. Helping horses stay cool and comfortable can reduce stress and improve overall well-being during the summer months.
🗓️ The feed room was updated for improved organization and better flow of the space. A more efficient setup helps streamline daily care and ensures consistency and accuracy in feeding routines.
🐎 Last fall we added an additional Ritchie waterer to the west track system. Fresh, clean water access is essential for all horses, especially track horses who naturally move more throughout the day. Increased movement encourages more frequent drinking, which supports hydration, digestion, circulation, joint health, and overall wellness.
✅ We added a water source to the outdoor arena to help maintain proper footing conditions during dry weather. Consistent moisture in the footing helps reduce airborne dust while also creating more stable, supportive footing for horses and riders.
⛈️ All paddocks were regraded to improve water drainage and direct water flow more efficiently. Better drainage helps reduce mud buildup, improves footing safety, protects hoof health, and creates a cleaner, healthier environment year-round.
👷 P2 & P3 received new drain tile, extensive regrading, and additional material to further improve drainage and usability during wet seasons.
🐴 Each paddock now has newly installed scratching posts. Beyond being a favorite enrichment feature for the horses, scratching posts allow horses to self-groom, relieve irritation naturally, and encourage relaxation and comfort while turned out.
🏖️The indoor arena received new footing to improve consistency, cushion, and rideability for both horses and riders.
💦 Our temperature-controlled hot wash station is now installed and ready for use! It’s perfect for cooling horses down comfortably on hot summer days.
🛠️ The east track system was upgraded from soft gates to hard gates. The increased visibility helps better guide horses through the track system, encouraging more natural movement throughout the day. The upgraded gates also improve overall safety and make turnout and horse retrieval more efficient for both clients and management.
🚜 The hay shed also received a facelift with new compressed asphalt base material. This upgrade helps improve long-term hay storage by reducing moisture and dust exposure from the ground up, helping maintain better hay quality, cleanliness, and freshness over time.
💙 We’re incredibly thankful for all of our wonderful clients who trust us with their horses each day. Thank you for your patience throughout all of these projects and for continuing to support our vision of creating the best possible environment for every horse here. We’re excited for another year providing care at ROS.
