💜 Our animals become such a meaningful part of our lives, woven into our daily routines, our memories, and our hearts. When we lose them, we feel that loss in so many ways.

Whether your loss was days ago or years ago, grief can show up in unexpected ways, and having others who understand can make a difference. 🐾

I'd love to welcome you to tomorrow's Pet Loss Grief Support Group. We'll make space for our grief, remember the animals who have touched our lives, and connect with others who understand just how special these bonds are.

You're welcome to share or simply listen. Come as you are. 💜

Dogtoberfest this year! What an amazing day meeting dogs and their humans! I loved meeting so many great animal businesses, rescues, shelters, and dog lovers. Two reasons to celebrate our animal companions on one very special day! 💜
I’ll be at the 19th Annual Dogtoberfest & Adopt-a-Thon on Sunday, October 4 from 10 AM–3 PM at Watson Lake Park!

And October 4 is also the Feast of St. Francis, traditionally celebrated with Blessings of the Animals—a beautiful day to honor the animals who bring so much meaning to our lives. 🐶🐱🐾

Come enjoy a fun day with your pups, check out the vendors and adoptable animals, and come find me at the Paws for Compassion booth!

I’ll have goodies for you and your pups—including treats, fun take-home goodies, and other surprises! 🐾🎁 Plus, I’ll have resources and information about supporting, honoring, and deepening our relationships with our animal companions.

Bring your pup, grab a treat, and come say hi! 💜🐾

Sometimes going the extra step with our animal companions is as simple as slowing down, getting silly, and being fully present. 💜

And sometimes it's sending a little extra calm their way, offering a soothing touch, or exploring energy work and other ways to deepen the connection we share.

Our animals notice our energy. They notice our presence. And those little moments of connection can become some of the sweetest parts of our time together. 🥰

September 13 is National Pet Memorial Day 🌈

For those of us who have loved and lost an animal, there are certain days, places, sounds, and little things that can suddenly bring them right back into our hearts.

There is no timeline for when you are supposed to stop missing someone you love, and there are many ways you can take this day to honor them:
- Create visual tributes by finding a loved photo that reminds you of them and place it somewhere special, with something of theirs to feel close today.
- Plant a tree, a bush, or beautiful flowers in your yard where your animal companion loved to hang out.
- Create custom art by ordering a painted portrait, a custom plush animal, or an engraved stone marker for the garden.
- Create a journal filled with your favorite funny habits, quirks, and adventures you shared together.
- Donate in their name by sending money, food, or blankets to a local animal shelter or rescue group.
- Help animals in need - here in Prescott, UnitedAnimalFriends has Tribute Tags that you can buy, and they can be placed on their Tribute Fence: https://unitedanimalfriends.org/tribute-tags/
- Volunteer your time - help out at a local rescue to bring joy to animals who are still looking for their forever homes.

Today, take a moment to remember an animal who made a difference in your life.

The relationship may have changed, but the love doesn't have to end. 💜🐾

We often think of rituals as something formal, but they can be as simple as creating a moment to pause and honor the animals we love.

These moments help us celebrate the bond we share—and give us something meaningful to return to through all the seasons of our lives together.

💜🐾 What if your relationship with animals could be explored in a whole new way?

There’s still time to join me for my upcoming Yavapai College Community Ed course, Deepening Our Human-Animal Bond: Healing, Support & Meaningful Rituals.

Together, we’ll explore the many layers of the relationships we share with animals, including connection and healing, meaningful rituals and blessings, caring for ourselves as animal caregivers, compassion fatigue, grief and loss, and ways to continue honoring our bond after loss.

This course is for animal lovers, pet parents, veterinary professionals, rescue and shelter workers, foster caregivers, and anyone who wants to deepen their connection with animals.
