🐾 Low-Stress Feline Care: Why We Choose the “Purrito” Over Scruffing 🐾

Cats experience stress very differently than dogs, especially in a medical setting. At Urgent Pet Prescott, we prioritize low-stress handling whenever possible, and one of our favorite techniques is the “purrito.” 🌯🐱

✨ What is a Purrito?
A purrito gently wraps a cat in a soft towel, leaving only the area we need to examine exposed. This provides comfort, warmth, and a sense of security while allowing our team to safely perform care.

💙 Why we use the Purrito instead of scruffing:
• Reduced stress and fear. Gentle restraint lowers anxiety and helps cats feel more secure
• Improved safety. Less struggling means fewer injuries to both our feline patients and our team
• Better medical outcomes. Calm cats allow for more accurate exams and treatments
• More humane handling, respects feline behavior and natural coping mechanisms

🚫 Why we avoid scruffing:
