Rocky got an A+ at his follow-up appointment today!! ๐ถ The Doc said he is healing up perfectly and he almost has his full range of motion, which is quite impressive considering it has only been 2 weeks since his surgery!! Rocky still needs to limit some of his activity for a little while longer to ensure he heals fully ๐ His next follow-up appointment is on October 30th but in the meantime, we will be considering inquiries/applications for his adoption so please contact us if youโre interested in adopting Rocky!!
Rocky is a neutered male Border Collie that is almost 1-1/2 years old. Rocky has been exposed to many different animals to include dogs, cats, livestock, ducks, etc. and he has shown he does very well around all animals. Rocky can be guarded towards some other dogs which could be attributed to the discomfort he was experiencing from his shoulder or being that he is young and still maturing.
Rocky knows some basic commands but he still very much so behaves like a puppy and needs some more obedience training, something we will be working on until heโs adopted. However, these skills can be lost if you do not continue to work with your dog so please keep this in mind when considering adopting a working breed!
Rocky loves people!! He is a hugger and will literally wrap his paws around you as he gives you a hug. He is also very cuddly and thrives on your attention. After all, he is a Border Collie! With that being said, Rocky will need someone who is going to be attentive. Most Border Collies need a job to do but if you are an active person he will be your best friend. He is a very good boy but if he becomes bored he may start to chew on items such as shoes or other items if left alone and unsupervised for long periods of time. Keep in mind he has been on a VERY strict activity level due to his shoulder and soon he will be able to have more stimulation where he will likely not resort to this behavior.
With consideration to his shoulder surgery, all necessary appointments have been completed!! However, it is important for any adopter to prepare for the potential of arthritis in his golden years. Of course, this can be with any dog but we want all our bases covered for Rocky so we know he is going to a serious adopter and forever home ๐ Arizona Canine Orthopedics have been so incredible and have offered to discuss Rockyโs entire procedure, maintenance and outlook for Rockyโs new family if there are any questions they may have. If youโre interested in Rocky or have more questions for us, please send us a message, thank you!
