🎓🐾 Hats Off to Our Recent Graduates! 🐾🎓

We recently wrapped up TWO amazing classes here at Candid Canine Training — our Puppy Class and Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Class! 🎉

🐶 Puppy Class Graduates: These pups and their owners have been working hard building a solid foundation! From engagement and basic obedience to leash manners, confidence, and learning how to navigate the world together, they’ve made some incredible progress!

🏅 Canine Good Citizen Graduates: Our CGC students took their skills to the next level, focusing on obedience, good manners, and remaining composed around everyday distractions. We’re so proud of the teamwork and dedication these handlers showed throughout the course!

One thing we always love reminding our students is that training doesn’t end when class does! The skills you’ve learned are just the beginning. Consistency, practice, and continuing to challenge your dogs are what turn those lessons into lifelong habits.

A HUGE thank you to everyone who joined us, showed up each week, put in the work, and trusted us to be part of your training journey. Watching both the dogs and their handlers grow in confidence is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do. ❤️

Congratulations to all of our graduates! 🎓🐾 We can’t wait to see what you accomplish next!

🐾 A Little Thank You & A Small Favor! 🐾

One of the biggest compliments we can receive as a small business is a referral! ❤️

At Candid Canine Training, so much of our business has grown through word of mouth, and we truly cannot express how much that means to us. Every time you recommend us to a friend, family member, or even a stranger looking for help with their dog, you’re putting your trust in us, and that’s something we never take for granted.

As we continue to grow, we’re also working on building up our online reviews! ⭐️

While word of mouth has been such a huge part of our success, online reviews help new clients feel confident when choosing a trainer for their dog.

If you’ve trained with us, whether through private lessons, group classes, or a Board & Train, we would be incredibly grateful if you took a moment to share your experience in a review.

Your referrals help us grow, and your reviews help others find us!

Thank you for continuing to support our small business, trusting us with your dogs, and allowing us to do what we love every day.

With appreciation,
Jessica & Shelby

One of the coolest parts of being a trainer is getting to help people realize the goals they have for their dogs, especially when those goals can lead to greater independence. ❤️

Two of Shelby’s service dog clients, Beau and Frida, have been putting in some incredible work with their moms.

Beau has been learning a formal retrieve so he can pick up and bring his mom the things she needs, while Frida has been perfecting her public access skills and learning medical alert training.

These snapshots may look like little behaviors, but they represent hours of training put into these dogs by Shelby and their moms. Every retrieve, every successful outing, and every step toward a reliable alert is built on countless repetitions and a whole lot of teamwork.

There is still plenty of work ahead for both teams, but every day they get a little closer to giving their moms the independence that only a properly trained service dog can provide.

Shelby is incredibly proud of both dogs, and even more proud to be a part of helping these teams work toward something that will have such a meaningful impact on their everyday lives. ❤️🐾

Why do we almost always encourage starting with a private lesson?

Because we want to meet you and your dog before telling you what kind of training you need.

We want to hear what’s going on, meet your dog, understand what you’re struggling with, and learn what you actually want life with your dog to look like.

We’ve had plenty of clients come to us convinced they need a Board & Train, only to find out that with some coaching and the right plan, they can absolutely accomplish their goals through private lessons. Why sell someone a bigger, more expensive program if they don’t actually need it?

Of course, there are also dogs and situations where we meet the team and genuinely believe a Board & Train is the best option. We offer them for a reason! But we want to make that recommendation after we’ve met you and your dog.

And we want to make sure you like us too! 😂 You’re trusting someone with a member of your family. You should feel comfortable with them, their training, and the plan they’re recommending.

So, a little advice when shopping for a dog trainer: be cautious of someone who is pushing and pushing a Board & Train or expensive package before they’ve ever even met your dog. Training shouldn’t start with deciding which program someone can sell you. It should start with figuring out what you and your dog actually need.

Not sure where to start? Start with a private lesson. Meet us, let us meet your dog, and we’ll figure it out from there. 🐾

A very overdue appreciation post for this awesome CGCA group class! ❤️🐾

We truly have the BEST clients. We’re so grateful for the pet parents who put in the time, show up for their dogs, and become the kind of teams that make us proud to do what we do.

Shelby is also looking at running another CGC class soon! If you’ve been waiting for one, comment below or send us a message so we can gauge interest. 🐶

👃 Give Your Dog a Job They’ll LOVE!

Looking for a fun new way to challenge your dog, build their confidence, and give that busy brain something to do?
Intro to K9 Nose Work is a 6-week class all about letting your dog use their greatest superpower: their nose!

Nose Work is a search game inspired by professional detection work that turns your dog’s natural ability to hunt and sniff into an incredibly fun and rewarding activity you can do together.

It’s mental enrichment. It builds confidence and independence. It gives busy brains an outlet. And most importantly, dogs LOVE getting to use their nose and hunt!
K9 Nose Work is designed to meet dogs where they are and build their desire to search, making it an awesome activity for everyday pet dogs. All your dog needs to get started is a love of food or a favorite toy they’re willing to hunt for!

🏆 Learn from an experienced Nose Work competitor
This class is taught by Shelby, an NACSW-affiliated Nose Work instructor (PNWI) who actively trains and competes with her own dogs in NACSW K9 Nose Work, AKC Scent Work, and ASCA Scent Detection. Whether you’re looking for an exciting new hobby with your dog or think you might want to explore competition someday, you’ll be learning Nose Work from someone who actually trains, handles, and competes in the sport.

🐾 No previous Nose Work experience needed
🥩 Dogs must be motivated by food or toys
🧺 Dogs must be comfortable resting in a crate while waiting for their turn to search
📅 6 weeks beginning Sunday, September 20th
⏰ 4:30 PM | 1.5-hour classes
📍 Frontier Dog & Co.

Dog-reactive dogs are welcome! Dogs search individually, making Nose Work a great option for dogs who need space from other dogs. Dogs who are reactive or aggressive toward people are better suited for private lessons before joining the group class.

👃 Come see what your dog’s nose can do!
