🐾 Meet Mosby! 🐾

Mosby is a Border Collie/Cattle Dog mix who has joined our Board & Train program for an obedience refresher. Mosby has already completed private lessons with us and has a great foundation, but his owners wanted to take his training to the next level by having him properly e-collar conditioned for more freedom and reliability in real-world situations.

One of the biggest misconceptions about e-collars is that they’re used as a punishment tool. When introduced correctly, an e-collar is simply a communication tool that allows owners to reinforce known commands at a distance and provide clear, consistent guidance—even when distractions are high.

Proper e-collar conditioning is a process. We first ensure the dog fully understands the behaviors being asked of them. Then, we carefully introduce the collar at the dog’s working level, teaching them how to turn off the stimulation by responding to known commands. The goal is not to “shock” the dog into compliance, but to create a clear line of communication that the dog understands and feels confident working through.

For the right dog and the right owner, e-collar training can provide:
✅ More off-leash freedom
✅ Increased reliability around distractions
✅ Greater safety during hikes, camping trips, and outdoor adventures
✅ Improved communication at a distance
✅ Peace of mind for owners

Like any training tool, success comes down to proper education, timing, and consistency. An e-collar is not a shortcut—it works best when paired with a solid training foundation and responsible handling.

Another Basic Obedience class is officially in the books! 🎓🐾

We are so proud of this group and all the hard work they put in over the last six weeks. From learning the foundations of obedience to building better communication with their dogs, each team made great progress along the way.

Thank you for trusting us to be part of your training journey. We can’t wait to see what you and your dogs accomplish next!

WoofStock is a celebration of all things dog, featuring adoptable dogs, contests, demonstrations, local vendors, food trucks, and plenty of opportunities to spend the day with fellow dog lovers. Whether you’re one of our clients, have been thinking about training, or just want to stop by and say hello, we’d love to meet you.

These teams put in the work to earn their CGC titles through training, consistency, and real-world obedience skills we believe every dog should have. We are incredibly proud of this crew, and many are already continuing on to CGC Advanced & Urban CGC!
