I don't often use the REACH page for personal campaigns, but I feel like this is a mission worth sharing (and since I'm the boss, I can!).

Most of you know I’m fairly active with my little church, and recently I've been delving into the details to help our Hills and Hollars mission group. They work with the Eolia Christian Community Outreach (ECCO), which has been serving the Eolia, KY community for years. https://www.meridzo.org/ecco

For their upcoming holiday outreach, volunteers will pack boxes of daily necessities for approximately 250 families. It absolutely broke my heart to learn that the items the kids look forward to receiving the most are not toys, or trinkets. They are most excited to receive their very own toothbrush and a warm pair of socks.

Many of these families are forced to share a single toothbrush all year, if they have one at all. A toothbrush—something most of us take for granted as such a mundane item—is #1 on their Christmas list!

Learning this lit a spark in me, and I am determined to help fix this small corner of the world by ensuring these kids have some basic necessities this year.

I am looking to collect donations of:

🪥New toothbrushes
🎀Tubes of toothpaste
🧦Warm socks (all sizes)

There will be a donation box set up in the training room, so you can easily drop items off the next time you come in for class with your dogs. If you aren't currently in a class, I am also more than happy to come pick donations up from you directly!

The next trip out to KY is scheduled for December 10th, so we are collecting from now until then.

✨ Introducing: Tiny Win Tuesdays! ✨

We’ve all been there—scrolling through social media and seeing friends or colleagues posting photos holding massive trophies, giant rosettes, or gorgeous ribbons. It’s easy to feel a little twinge of comparison or wonder if your own journey measures up.

Here’s your reminder: Just because your accomplishment isn't recognized in a ring with a pile of bling doesn't make it any less important.

Every single milestone matters! So, every Tuesday, let’s come together to celebrate the small, quiet victories that build real-world progress toward your goals—whatever those look like for you and your dog.

Maybe your win this week was:
🐾 Walking a few steps on a loose leash with zero pulling
🐾 Walking past *that* neighbor’s fence without a single reaction
🐾 Holding a calm settle on the mat while dinner was cooking
🐾 Or just choosing connection over frustration on a tough day

To kick off our very first Tiny Win Tuesday, I’ll go first:
My win this week was taking a big step outside my comfort zone. I’m a total creature of habit (and a bit of an aspiring hermit 🏡)—I rarely leave home unless I have to, and doing new things is usually situated way outside my comfort bubble. But this week, I set aside the anxiety-inducing "what-ifs" and took my dog somewhere brand new to try something different. We had an awesome time together, and it went so smoothly. So… yay me! 🎉

🎒🔔 CLASS IS IN SESSION: September at REACH K9! 🐾🍎

Sharpen your pencils and pack the high-value treats—September is officially Back to School month on the training floor! We’ve put together a lineup of dynamic, high-focus classes designed to take your dog from "hallway chaos" straight to the top of the honor roll.

Whether your dog needs to stop barging doorways, learn to ignore dropped lunch trays, or power through gym-class fitness indoors, we have a desk waiting for you!

In addition to all our regular classes (tricks, CGC, nosework, SD Foundations) here are some of the themed classes on the syllabus this September:

🚪 Hall Pass: Thresholds, Doors, & Manners (No running in the halls! Stop the door-barging once and for all.)

📝 Pop Quiz: Proofing & Distraction Stations (Put known cues to the test against surprise real-world distractions.)

🥪 Cafeteria Manners: Food Neutrality & Impulse Control (Default "leave-its" and boundary manners around high-value temptations.)

📚 Study Hall: Settle, Mat Work, & Independent Calm (Master the off-switch, quiet tethering, and library-level focus.)

🏃‍♂️ P.E. Class: Canine Fitness & Obstacle Conditioning (Stretching, warmups/cool-downs, cavalettis, and core balance work indoors!)

📸 School Picture Day: Posing, Targets, & Handling (Cooperative care and stationary holds—yes, the studio backdrop and "good" camera will be out for real portraits!)

Service dog students practiced some solid foundations in class this afternoon. Next month, they'll be taking those skills out and about in dog-friendly places. Some of the skills practiced included:

- Tuck (under a table, under legs, etc)
- Go Ahead / Follow behind
- Tuck your Tail
- lap DPT
- escalating alerts
- switch sides /off-side heel

Everyone did a great job! Lots of laughs, lots of learning - just how training should be! :)

Happy Birthday to us! REACH turns 10 today! 10 years of helping pups and their people overcome challenges, pursue goals, and build lasting relationships. We've met so many fantastic teams along the way, and we wouldn't be where we are today without you all! Thank you! Heres to another fantastic 10 years. :)

🐾For a distinctly different 'flavor' of trial - we have our "Just Here for the Points" trial December 12–13. This bare bones trial strips away the extras for a relaxed, budget-friendly event.

Less "extras" means reduced entry fees. It also means we CAN accept Day of Show [DoS] entries. Jump in with flexible, last-minute runs.

This is your opportunity to rack up those critical points for final 2026 rankings and grab your qualifying legs for the 2027 National Championship! You can also welcome Carter and Amy as two of our newest WCRL judges. :)
