FIREWORKS ARE COMING!! While the biggest displays in Dublin, Powell, Plain City, Delaware, Worthington & Columbus are planned for July 3rd & 4th, we can expect to hear neighborhood celebrations throughout the week. If you will need anxiety meds for your pet - please let us know ASAP so we have time to get them ready. Follow these steps to create a cozy nook for your pet to stay safe:

🐾Create a safe haven
Give your pet a comfy space in a basement, bathroom, or closet - as far from noise & flashing as possible.

🐾Provide noise buffers
White noise machines, calming music, radio, or tv are all great options.

🐾Provide distraction
Treat puzzles, peanut butter kongs, and favorite toys can help keep your pet occupied.

🐾Be a calming presence
Stay with your pet if possible - your relaxed presence will reassure them.

🐾Check the chip
Be sure your pet’s microchip info is current. More pets go missing on July 4th than any other day of the year!

🕷️🐶 A recent OSU study found that nearly 50% of black-legged ticks in Ohio now carry the bacteria that causes Lyme disease - up from only 2.4% in 2014! These ticks are becoming more and more numerous in Ohio and can be active any time temperatures are above freezing — not just during the summer months.

The first step in protecting your dog is making sure they are on a reliable monthly flea and tick prevention - but no prevention is perfect, and ticks can still be easy to miss.

That’s why the Lyme vaccine can be an important second layer of protection for dogs at risk!
