These are 5 of the girls that have committed to the work this summer. They are pushing themselves farther in their riding. Today we attended the Rocky Mountain Youth Rodeo. This rodeo is meant for beginners and these girls showed up and met their goals. I couldn’t be prouder of them.
Thank you to their parents for supporting them and showing up. You rock!

We KNOW that can be the stressful part — so we’ve made it simple:

✔️ Parents are welcome to help lead younger kids in:

* Barrels
* Poles

💛 We also have AWESOME volunteers ready to help rope or pull hides

12–15: Steer Riding, Barrels, Poles, Breakaway, Team Roping, Ribbon Race, Hide Race, Goat Tying

16–18: Barrels, Poles, Breakaway, Team Roping, Ribbon Race, Hide Race, Goat Tying

Weekends are even better when they are spent with horses. 🐴🥰

It was so beautiful out on Sunday that the girls had to get the horses exercised. It’s important to start them slowly as the old guys are needing to rebuild muscle.

Many people think that horsemanship is all about being on their back. It’s not.
I love to teach others about horses and riding because it also teaches us skills that build our relationships with people.
Horses can guide us when we are willing to listen.

Areas that I focus on when giving lessons include:
🐴 body awareness
🐴 emotional state
🐴 connection
🐴 awareness of the horses feelings
🐴 patience and impulsivity control

And of course the skills to communicate effectively with a horse.

This has been the best winter of lessons. We have gotten lots of hands on time, it’ll be so fun to see the progress everyone makes.
