Barking and lunging are not always “just excitement.”
Look at the pattern around the behavior:
• Does the same trigger cause the same intense response repeatedly?
• Can your dog still respond to a familiar cue or take a food reward?
• Does your dog settle once the trigger passes, or stay tense and keep scanning?
One noisy moment does not automatically mean a dog is reactive. The bigger concern is recurring loss of control, especially when walks are being planned around avoiding dogs, people, bicycles, or vehicles.
We broke down these warning signs and practical next steps for Kennesaw owners in our new guide. If walks repeatedly become difficult to manage, schedule a dog training evaluation with K9 OTC.
