We currently have a client that has been staying up around the clock to administer medications needed to help her horse heal from a few medical issues. As many of you know, around the clock care can begin to really take its toll. We are posting in the hopes that there might be a volunteer or two that is willing and able to help this owner with some medication administration, and allow this owner some much needed sleep.

As some of you may know, Cornell recently announced a shortage in the reagent needed to test ACTH levels in equines. Sound Equine understands the importance of ensuring ACTH levels are monitored carefully and we do have the option of sending out to other labs or to run testing here in house on a new device we purchased for this reason.

Please bear with us as pricing will be different than you are used to seeing as a result of the tests being sent to a new lab or run in house. We are hoping the manufacturer shortage ends in October as they expect, but will post updates as we have more information.

The wildfires may be burning on the other side of the state, but our air quality here is still suffering.
As a reminder, your horses are athletes. Don't ride in poor air quality to the point of increased respiratory rate. If your horse is sensitive, wet down their hay before feeding.

Our hearts go out to all those being affected by the wildfires.

Don't delay! Fourth of July is coming up quicker than we all realize and with the fourth comes lots of loud noises. If your horse needs medication to help get them through the holiday, please reach out now so we can work on getting prescriptions filled to help your four legged friend get through the holiday with ease.

We know that clients are concerned with the discovery of New World Screwworm being confirmed in the US. At this time it is only in a limited location.

We encourage you all to be aware that although there are currently no travel restrictions in place, if you travel to Texas or the surrounding areas and there is a new positive case nearby, your equine or farm animal may be required to quarantine before returning home.
