You may or may not know that this week is , but we couldn't let the week pass without recognizing the amazing LVTs that help make life easier here at Sound Equine. Hannah, Stacy, Sarah R, Cassie, and Sam F are the licensed veterinary technicians employed here at Sound Equine Veterinary Hospital and we wanted to give them a huge thank you for all of their hard work and support that they have given to the clinic and to the patients that we see on a daily basis.

In order to come an LVT in Washington state, you must attend, pass classes, and graduate from an accredited veterinary technology program. You have to complete an externship in an approved clinic. You have to pass a difficult state test that covers numerous species, medical math, anatomy and physiology, and so much more.

Sound Equine wouldn't be able to operate as we do without the help of our amazing LVTs assisting with everything from collecting samples to helping with anesthesia management. Thank you for all your hard work and dedication and we hope you have the best week!

Over the last few days we have gotten a few questions about the AllyDVM app and where the PetPage went within the app.

Currently we have the PetPage portion of AllyDVM disabled due to some inaccuracies in information it was providing. We are working diligently alongside the AllyDVM team to get the app updated and restored to it's full function.

If you have any information on your animals that you need to update, please call the office at 360-779-5557, and we will update as soon as we are able!

We wanted to let our clients know that starting November 1st, Dr Smith is going to be out of office for 6 weeks recovering from surgery (she's okay though!) Sound Equine will to continue to operate at it's full capacity, we will still have the rest of our staff on site, ready and willing to help and we will remain open for all ER's.

Dr Smith wanted to extend a very heartfelt thank you to all of our clients for their continued support of the practice during the time she is out and she has the utmost trust in her colleagues to continue to carry the patient load while she is out recovering.

We look forward to having her back in the clinic towards the middle of December but wish her the speediest of recoveries!

In typical Monday fashion, technology is not on our side today. We appear to be having intermittent issues with our scheduling software. We are currently in, and everything is operating as it should, but please have patience with us while we work through the hiccups with our software going down occasionally today.

If you get a call and it starts with a prompt saying you are receiving a call from your vet, dont be alarmed, it's just us here at Sound Equine!

We are using a new system called CoVet that allows our doctors to better document phone calls with clients reporting lab work, follow up information, or other important information. This allows us to better document our conversations (for your records and for ours!)

With an increase in flies comes an increase in conjunctivitis!
Irritants such as flies (or dust) can cause horses to rub the area that is being irritated. The rubbing of the eye introduces bacteria which in turn leads to conjunctivitis.

Although antibiotic ointment can help treat the conjunctivitis, the best way to protect your horse is to have them mask up, especially when flies are as present as they are now.

We currently have a client that has been staying up around the clock to administer medications needed to help her horse heal from a few medical issues. As many of you know, around the clock care can begin to really take its toll. We are posting in the hopes that there might be a volunteer or two that is willing and able to help this owner with some medication administration, and allow this owner some much needed sleep.
