My thought of the day.

I’ve been reflecting on my journey as a Siamese and Balinese breeder, and I keep coming back to how different things were when I started. In those days, breeders — whether brand new or well established — made it a point to acknowledge the programs that helped them. We recognized the catteries whose cats improved our lines, and we expressed gratitude to the people who shared their experience and their trust. We carried the names of their Cattery with pride. It was a sign of respect, and it kept our community grounded.

Today, I don’t see that same level of acknowledgment. Many new breeders acquire exceptional cats from long‑standing, reputable programs, yet rarely mention the foundations behind their success. It can give the impression that they built everything on their own, when in truth every purebred program is built on the work of those who came before.

I haven’t forgotten the breeders who helped me. Their cats, their mentorship, and their generosity shaped the quality of my program. Their influence is woven into every generation I produce. I’m grateful for them — not just for the cats they entrusted to me, but for the role they played in my growth as a breeder.

Today, that tradition feels quieter. Many new breeders benefit from the hard work of long‑established programs yet rarely mention the hands that helped them rise. But I remember. I remember every breeder who trusted me, guided me, and shared their lines so I could pursue my dream of producing healthy, beautiful Siamese and Balinese cats.
Respecting our roots doesn’t diminish our accomplishments. It honors the journey that made them possible.

He’s a sweet, sensitive soul who has become increasingly stressed due to recent changes in his household — specifically the arrival of new babies. “He forms strong bonds with his people and loves to cuddle, lounge nearby, and spend quiet time with those he trusts. When the household is calm, he is a loving and attentive companion who enjoys being close to his favorite person.

Smokey has done well living with our small dog (a Yorkie) and has never shown any issues with her. He has not lived with other cats since he was a kitten, when he was with his littermate, so I cannot say with certainty how he would do with another cat as an adult.

Smokey’s biggest challenge has been adjusting to life with young children. While he is not aggressive, he becomes very stressed by the activity and noise that naturally comes with a household of small kids. Rather than interacting, he tends to hide and withdraw for much of the day. Because of this, I believe he would be happiest in a quiet home without children, where he can feel secure and show the affectionate, loving side of his personality.

For someone looking for a loyal companion and willing to give him a calm environment and a little patience, Smokey has a lot of love to offer. He deserves a home where he can relax, be himself, and enjoy the attention and companionship he craves.”
