Last summer camp was absolutely epic! We had the best time learning about horseback riding, mastering horsemanship, and soaking up the fresh farm air.

A massive THANK YOU to all of our wonderful campers, supportive parents, and amazing volunteers and staff. You all made this a truly remarkable way to end the summer.

We are already counting down the days. See you all at camp next year!

Big congratulations to Zoë Hammond, one of our hard-working lesson students!

We are happy to share that Zoë entered two pieces into the Equine Art Show at Emerald Downs and ribboned with both. She took home a first place win, as well as an Honorable Mention for artwork she created at Blue Heron Summer Camp.

To give you an idea of how big of an achievement this is, the Equine Art Show has been running since 1980 and attracts professional artists from all across the country. It is notoriously difficult to ribbon here, which makes Zoë's double win quite an accomplishment.

The show also supports a great cause. A portion of all art sales goes directly to the Washington Thoroughbred Foundation, which funds scholarships for veterinary students and stable families, and provides care for retired racehorses.

Camp #1 is officially in the books!

We had an amazing week of learning and fun. Some campers caught on to posting the trot, while others leveled up their jumping skills! The kids also learned horse care, from bathing horses to cleaning tack, and we even threw in a fun team stall-cleaning competition.

We celebrated the final day with an obstacle course and jumping demo. It was a wonderful week with fantastic campers, and we cannot wait for the next camp in a month!

The home team is having an awesome time at the Cascade Open horse show! Here are some of our mid-show highlights so far:

* Avery & Rory and Lumi & Holly scored the first blue ribbons for the team in Outreach Walk/Trot Poles Equitation and Outreach Hunters Walk/Trot Poles
* Marissa and Conejo placed 2nd in the OHSA Children’s Medal 3'0" and 4th in the WHSJA Good Hands and Seat 3'0". They also placed 2nd in the Children's Equitation.
* Rachel & Dartes stepped up to the 2'9"–3'0" divisions and brought home a handful of ribbons
* Marissa & Riley had a blast at their first show together in the .70m Jumpers.
* Tara & Brooks debuted with a 2nd in the 2'6" Hunters, though Brooks thinks the trail rides are the best part. They're also having the best time in the .80m Jumpers.
* Susanna & Holly and Taylor and Rory worked on their balancing skills cantering and jumping with a glass of wine in hand in the hilarious Rose All Day class.

We still have two full days of showing left, and plenty more classes to go. Good luck to everyone for the rest of the week!

We are all set up and ready to show at the gorgeous Washington State Horse Park in the Cascade Foothills! The horses have settled beautifully into their stalls, and our riders have all wrapped up their schooling rides and lessons. Between prepping, we've been enjoying quiet evening walks with the horses and ba****ck trail rides through the pines. The team is rested, confident, and excited to hit the rings tomorrow! We cannot think of a better way to spend the summer than getting to spend extra time caring for and riding your favorite lesson horse.

Huge congratulations to Zoë Hammond on leasing our beloved Pretzel for the summer. We are so thrilled for you both and absolutely cannot wait to watch you guys enjoy your summer vacation together. Get ready for many warm summer days at the barn, great rides, and making the best memories.

On Sunday we celebrated National Pretzel Day the best way we know how—with our very own Pretzel 🥨💛

Our beloved lesson horse Pretzel got lots of extra love, treats, and attention. He’s such a special part of our barn—patient, kind, and always taking care of his riders like a true professional.

We’re so lucky to have him teaching, comforting, and occasionally being just a little bit goofy. Here’s to Pretzel, the sweetest (and cutest) pretzel around 🐴🥨
