Introducing ZELDA, a gorgeous, sweet and well socialized 7.5 month old German Shepherd Dog mix now ready for adoption to her forever home!
Zelda, also known lovingly by her foster family as Zelly and ZellyBelly, was born January 11, 2026 in South Carolina to a purebred male German Shepherd Dog and a purebred black Labrador but sadly was the result of an “oops” litter. Fortunately for Zelda, a kind woman took in the entire litter and by the time we learned of them only Zelda and her brother Blitz were still in need of placement. We sent Blitz to a rescue partner of ours in a service dog program.
Zelda is an affectionate, goofy girl who just wants to be with her people and furry friends. Although she’s quite large and we expect her to mature to at least 70-80 pounds, she is still very much a puppy with bursts of excitable puppy energy. She enjoys snuggling up to her family after a good walk or round of fetch. Zelda does well on a lead and is a gentle giant. She is house trained and crate trained.
Whether or not her ears stand is anyone’s guess but either way she is beautiful inside and out and whoever adopts her shall be fortunate indeed!
Zelda is currently living with her wonderful, experienced foster family consisting of her foster parents, two kids, three cats, foster kittens and two other dogs (including an older German Shepherd female). Zelda has met and played with some of the neighborhood kids (5-9yrs old).
As with any puppy, Zelda would do best in a structured household and will benefit from additional basic obedience training. She is on monthly preventions for heartworms and for protection against fleas and ticks. She has not been tested for heartworms because we started her on prevention before the age of 6 months, which is the earliest they can be detected. She will be tested before going to her new home however, in an abundance of caution. Zelda up to date on vaccines (rabies and DAPP) and will soon finish the Lyme series, and the leptospirosis series that is specific to the geographic area where she is being fostered, which is near Dingmans Ferry, PA.

She will be spayed at an age appropriate to her large size and under a strict contract to ensure she is not allowed to breed in the meantime.
‼️Please only apply for Zelda if you can and WILL respect this and respect our desire that she not be allowed to reproduce. (For anyone who opposes this decision to place her unaltered, please do your research about the awful health issues that pediatric spay neuter can bring to especially large and giant breeds - we will be happy to point you to recent long term studies in this regard. 😊)
The adoption process for Zelda will include an initial inquiry to us via PM either to our page or to me, Caroline Callison Ti (I coordinated her rescue from here in SC and am very invested in her future); written application, reference checks including veterinary; home visit/meet and greet with all members human and animal of the prospective adopter’s home; trial foster to adoption period of approximately 3 weeks under a contract; and then if all parties agree, finalization of her adoption by contract. An adoption fee will apply.
We stand behind our dogs for life and while we strive to make the best and most informed adoption placement decisions for them, we will take them back at any time if necessary for their wellbeing and safety. Adopters agree via contract to abide by this.

We are SO very grateful to her foster family for taking in Zelda - we literally would not have been able to rescue her, without them and this is the second dog they have fostered/partnered with us in saving, this year.
