First looks:

4 week old Miss Whimsy was found at a Reading area farmers market.

When we went to collect Miss Whimsy, we discovered three tiny, starving kittens abandoned in a milk crate in an alleyway. Although there were several feral cats in the area, it was obvious that these kittens had no momma to care for them. Just skin and bones, and only 2 weeks old, they managed to crawl out of the milk crate and wobble toward us, crying for help. Just like that a simple pick up became a full-on rescue.

Miss Pancake, Miss Toast and Mr. Waffles are now safe in Fosterling's incubator, warm and cozy with full tummies.

As usual, names and genders are in the photo captions.

Every tabby cat is a masterpiece.

The mackerel tabby, with its thin, elegant stripes, captivates as the most common pattern. Its sleek design whispers of dignity and charm.

But then there's the classic tabby.

It flaunts bold, swirling patterns that adorn its coat like the strokes of a painter’s brush. Each swirl tells a story, each line a marvel.

The spotted tabby strikes a different note. Its coat, peppered with spots, echoes the wild, untamed aesthetics of its bigger cousins in the jungle. It’s both captivating and intriguingly fierce.

Enter the ticked tabby—where subtlety reigns supreme. Its fur seems to blend seamlessly, with barely a stripe in sight. A hint of mystery wraps around this pattern, leaving onlookers intriguingly curious.

And we mustn’t overlook the patched tabby. This feline wears a coat of mixed colors, where each patch lays claim to its uniqueness. It’s as if the cat itself decided to wear an ever-changing tapestry.

Each pattern, a unique expression of nature's artistry.

Next time you meet a tabby, look closer. You'll see life’s creativity etched in their fur.

Icons of their kind, tabbies remind us:

Ordinary can indeed be extraordinary.

Tiny Miss Scamp is a demon. I'm sure of it. She is half the size of a normal 7-week old with all the attitude of a tiger and a wolverine combined. This tiny terror effectively chased all the other kittens out of the nursery at feeding time with her overwhelming food aggression, forcing them to seek the high ground where Scamp can't reach ... yet.

Food aggression as bad as her's can be remedied. I've dealt with it before. It involves touching, petting the kitten while eating, feeding treats from hand, putting fingers in bowls while kitten is eating ... and in her case ... several small bandages. After a while she learns that nobody is going to steal her food and peace at feeding time will be restored. Until then this miniature mauling machine will get the gentle hands-on, must learn to share approach, that Mommy-Lady can give.

In a few short days (and a few new scars) she will learn that food aggression is not nice, and she is NOT starving.

In these two pictures I have a piece of toast. MY toast. I am sitting in the bathtub while she paces and leaps, yelling her displeasure. Not big enough to jump into the tub, she can only watch as I eat every last morsel of toast before offering her tasty kitty treats.

I am not withholding food from the tiny piranha. She just finished her breakfast, and the breakfast of another kitten, totalling an entire can of kitten Fancy Feast. She just needs to learn manners.
