What an absolute joy to welcome Renee King-Sonnen, founder of Rowdy Girl Sanctuary, Inc. | Farm Animal Sanctuary , to Rosie’s yesterday! We spent a wonderful afternoon together at the sanctuary, followed by an intimate gathering at Michele’s home, where the conversation continued.
We were absolutely enthralled by Renee’s extraordinary story, which she shares with such candor and heart in her new book, Rowdy Girl. Her journey from life on a Texas cattle ranch to transforming that very ranch into a sanctuary is a remarkable testament to the courage it takes to question everything you’ve known and choose a different path.
Just as meaningful was the opportunity to spend time together as friends and fellow advocates. Sanctuary work brings extraordinary joy, but also heartbreak, difficult decisions, unexpected challenges, and countless little victories that others doing this work understand so well. Being able to share the highs and lows, learn from one another, laugh together, and offer encouragement is a tremendous gift!!!
We’re so grateful to Renee and our friends at Ark of Compassion and Animal Sanctuary Network™ for the opportunity to connect, and for the friendships that make this community so special. The more we share, collaborate, and lift one another up, the stronger our movement becomes—and the more we can accomplish for the animals who bring us all together.
