I’m feeling called to start sharing my thoughts, or “blog” through this journey I’m on in this phase of life & business ownership. I can’t tell you whether or not it’ll be consistent, or what the subject matter will be, but I when I do I hope for it to be out of a place of grounding & intention. Or, frankly, just honesty. Anyway, here goes…
This summer has been an unexpected break from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the year. As a business owner, we often feel this in all the ways: Im not making enough money to do all the things and grow this total passion of mine, but I’m also so grateful to be forced to regulate and find some semblance of life balance finally (and any and all variations in between). Thankfully, we live in an area that tourists dream of visiting this time of year, so it’s afforded us the opportunity to really slow down and enjoy our surroundings more than I typically do. Part of that is spending more intentional time with my personal dogs: “The Residents” / “Trail Guides”, Puck, Diego & Daphne. Daphne (pictured) is 2yo now, and has been the perfect addition to our pack. It’s been really rewarding for me to snap back into the process of advancing her education, and it’s wild to see myself interact with her so differently than I did with Puck 14 years ago. Growth is one of the coolest things about time.
Well, today I started her e-collar training (again for the second or third time? Eh, life happens). We maybe spent 15-20 min outside for our lesson, and then it was just naturally time to be over, so we ended it. Nothing fancy, no big accolades, no overachieving, it was our second attempt at a consistent training routine, it wasn’t even hard or grueling, it was just… what it needed to be. We both enjoyed ourselves, and there wasn’t much to it. And that was that.
Not that every thought has to be perfectly summed up, but I guess if I had to wrap things up in a bow it’d be this:
If you can take a deep breath and let go of one small, controllable thing that you can, do it. Most of us are way too hard on ourselves.
