From lunging and biting his owners and having nothing but conflict with strangers to enjoying a morning walk at the oceanfront. Apollo is close to graduating and has a whole new life.

Update we sent to a client today, I wanted to share this bc I believe it encompasses a lot of what we don't understand about dog training. It's not about Obedience more often than not. Focus on the dog and the symptoms will often fix themselves..this dog had a few bites on humans, other dogs and some anxiety. There's still work to do for the owners but Baxter is at a phenomenal place.

In dog training the most important and most overlooked aspect is freedom. Freedom for your dog to be a dog and feel as good as they possibly can about who they are. Obedience is nice and is helpful but creating a confident dog who wants to be with you and play with you is the best feeling ever. I always focus on and push this for every client. We always want our dogs to do something or stop doing something but we never ask what they need or what they want from us.

Teaching a dog how to learn and how to problem solve is so important when working with any dog. Our BNT Copper needs to be muzzle conditioned and my favorite way to start this is free shaping. I want the dog to think the muzzle was their idea. When a dog fights for a behavior they do so with passion.

Building a love for the behavior is a must, if the foundation is ignored the rest will fall apart. A dog should want to work with you and when they discover the behavior they will show the passion.

Betty here is enrolled in our 3 week BNT and is fearful of most things new, the place cot was no different. She now believes getting on the cot is her own creation.
