Murphy had a "ruff" night. Luckily, his people called our people first thing in the morning so we could get him right in to be seen!

Did you know we save 2 to 3 urgent care appointments every weekday for our established clients? We want to save you the wait at the ER too!🩺

If you have an urgent situation with your pet and are a Viking client, give us a call at 971-371-4024 at 8am and we'll see what we can do to help, based on staffing and availability. These spots go fast and sometimes we still have to refer to an ER, but please know it's only when we don't have the resources to provide the care your pet deserves! 😸🐶

While Walter is over 160lbs at 1 year of age, he's not done growing yet!

This big handsome boy was in for his preventative care exam where he:
-Ate all the treats✔️
-Snuggled all the peeps✔️
-Picked out his toy✔️
-Then wanted to come back in to show everyone😄

🌟Fear Free Win: Mazzie-Part 2🌟

Mazzie previously had to be sedated for all veterinary handling. Our worked with Mazzie's family to improve her comfort level in a veterinary setting, including:
✔Pre-visit medications to help her be less anxious and fearful.
✔Lots of snacks and positive reinforcement.
✔Extra time to get comfortable in the exam room.
✔Keeping notes of her favorite team members and handling preferences ("Emotional Medical Record").
✔Staying with her family member throughout the visit.

Mazzie chose Trinity to help work through her fear, anxiety, and stress (FAS) and now is totally comfortable with her exams and diagnostics! Nice job, !

⭐Reminder! Viking Veterinary Care closes at 4:30pm the third Wednesday of every month (this evening) for our all-staff meeting and training session. ⭐

As an independently owned small business, it's SO important to us that we are all on the same page about how to best care for our clients and patients!

Zia brought her ESS (Emotional Support SpongeBob) and blankie from home for her recent dental procedure. Who doesn't want to wake up from anesthesia with something from home??🐶❤️

Our entire team is committed to protecting each patient's emotional, mental, and physical well-being...which means surgery day doesn't have to be scary!👏👏👏

Keeping pets' stress level low prior to anesthesia = No big adrenaline rush = less medication needed = SAFER ANESTHESIA!

How can you help make your pet's surgery day as low-stress as possible?
☑️Give the pre-op medications as prescribed on an empty stomach.
☑️Bring something from home they find comforting (toys and blankets are welcome!).
☑️Drive calmly with soothing music on the way, giving yourself plenty of time to arrive safely.
☑️Some pets benefit from having their owners with them during the initial sedation. Let us know if this is something you'd like to do!
☑️If pre-op diagnostics are completed and your pet may get stressed in their kennel, we can arrange a later admit time if this works for your schedule.

We want surgery day to be as low-stress as possible for YOU too! Please feel free to ask us questions about your pet's procedure! ❤️

✔Pick up medications from Viking to help with anxiety-Last chance, Friday morning!
✔Set up relaxing retreat space with distracting music or loud movie.
✔Utilize pheromones to signal we're in a safe space (ThunderEase or Feliway).
✔Consider spending time away from the city this weekend for extra sensitive kiddos-go for a hike or hit the beach.

Did you know cats develop dental disease too?

They try hard not to show it, but they frequently develop resorptive lesions, that are like cavities in the crown of the tooth. These lesions can be very painful, as they directly affect the nerve in the tooth. 😿

Signs of dental disease in cats include:
✅Foul breath
✅Drooling
✅Decreased appetite
✅ Eating out of one side of the mouth
✅Dropping food

Max came in to see Dr. Hendricks during our new CAT ONLY exam hours!

The first two appointments of the day for each DVM are now saved for our feline patients. This means:
😺No doggy smells in the hospital yet (possible exception of surgery patients in the treatment area).
😸A quiet hospital environment with no canine yodels or barking for cheese.
😻All the blankies, Churu, and kitty b***y box toys you've come to know and love.
