This sweet goober completed her chemotherapy protocol for a high grade mast cell tumor.
She's not one of our chemo kids that bursts through the door with an unmatched zest for life, rather she strolls in, may offer a polite tail wag, eyeballs the place, contemplates leaving, then does everything we ask of her perfectly.

Olive we love you and can't wait to see you at your check-ins.

A day in the life of a chemo patient:
Step one, get a weight check which Nora doesn't mind because she's still living for that hot girl summer.
Next, vitals, exam and blood draw.
Once everything checks out and chemo is drawn up, they come into the onco room and get treats, which they likely already have had
Next we let them familiarize themselves with the table.
Then of course more treats and lots of praise
Next is the placement of the catheter, then triple checking the chemo agent Nora is receiving.
After all boxes are checked off, Nora receives her IV infusion, the catheter is removed, colorful pressure wrap is placed and Nora waits patiently for more treats, which of course she gets

The parts we didn't show, treats on the scale, for exam, for her potty break, for going in her kennel, for looking cute, for being good and maybe a few more treats just because we love her.

He did it!
Sammy overcame his fears and completed the entire chop protocol... If you never did it, that's 17 visits over the course of like 6 months.
That's a whole lot of vet if that's not a place you feel confident. But with a little encouragement and a whole lot of chicken, Sammy now greets the team with tail wags and knows the layout of the entire building... All snack locations included

The day in the life of a surgery patient:
Don't mind June's sad face, no lady likes having her weight taken.
From intake we move to vitals, then catheter placement. These kids are shown to their accommodations, get to take a potty break and can't forget snuggles as we head into surgery prep.
Once they are comfortably asleep and the surgery site prepped these kids move into surgery.
When indicated radiographs are taken, then always more snuggles as these kiddos wake up before we get them ready to head home.
Thanks June for allowing us to share your surgery day journey, we are wishing you a speedy recovery from your TPLO surgery

Team member highlight! It's Sam.
We met Sam when she was a student at PCC studying to become a certified vet tech, she got placed with us as part of her studies. It was bitter sweet when she completed her hours, she was one step closer to being a licensed tech, but she would no longer be working with us.
Well it turns out Sam didn't get enough of us and when a position opened on the surgery team* Sam was back.
If I had to choose one word to describe Sam, it would be kind, because how else do you describe someone who both says "awww" and visually melts at every senior kitty that comes into the building.
Sam has several joys outside of the clinic, but one of her passions is helping provide veterinary care to under-served communities.
Sam thank you for being part of our team!

Sara McLachlan we have a smol dog that needs a song sung to him or about him, that parts unclear

While we wait for your response, we penned some lyrics and hope you approve

🎶 In the arms of the assistant
Stay here, my dear
In the bright, 72 degree exam room
With an empty treat bag sitting near
You were pulled from your kennel
Your barking demands made clear
You're in the arms of the assistant
May you graduate from here 🎶

Worry not, Junior's frown turned upside down once he was given his 8th treat, 7 clearly was not enough.

Y'all, we decided to slow things down with our summer shenanigans this year and made the trek to hoodriver to enjoy the views with Mount Hood Railroad.
What a fun adventure peddling the carts, learning about the area and spending time together.
How lucky are we to live in the beautiful PNW and have so much adventure just at our fingertips
