Portland Texas Animal Care Services Portland Animal Control is dedicated to serving the City of Portland with Humane Services. Animal Traps are available to Portland residents.

There is a $10.00 fee required. The trap can be used for a maximum of two weeks. A person may also purchase their own trap and call the animal control officer upon capture of an animal. This does include wild animals. Trap rentals are based on availability. Dead animals at private residences are not picked up by the animal control officer. Registration

ts annually. The cost of registration is $5 per animal. Proof of rabies vaccination is required to register your pet. Upon registration, your animal will be issued a city identification tag. Several area veterinarians work in conjunction with the city to provide city license tags for animals vaccinated in their clinics. The City of Portland requires pet owners to properly tag their animals with the city license tag and the rabies vaccination tag, issued by a licensed veterinarian. When worn by the animals, these tags can assist in reuniting lost animals with the owners. To locate a lost pet or for adoption information, please contact the Police Department by calling (361) 777-4444. Animal Bites
Animal bites must be reported to the Police Department by calling 9-1-1 or (361) 777-4444. Controlling the Pet Population
The City of Portland encourages the spaying (females) and neutering (males) of all pets to help control overpopulation. A veterinarian can safely perform the procedures on a pet at around 8 weeks of age. All pets adopted from the city’s animal shelter are required to be spayed / neutered. Are you my mom or dad??? 🐾 I was found near Chatwork Park, and my friend picked me up! We got tacos and even a pup cup. 🌮🐶 Now I’m ready to come home after my fun doggy day out!

Officers were able to safely impound one of the dogs, but the darker-colored dog is still loose. Officers were unable to get close enough to safely catch him.

If these are your babies, please check the Wildcat area for the one still at large. You can then contact us to reclaim the other baby, with proof of ownership.
