Pet Myth Thursday: A wagging tail always means a happy dog.

Not always.

Dogs may wag their tails when they’re relaxed and happy, but they can also wag when they’re stressed or highly aroused. That’s why it’s important to look at the whole dog, including their ears, eyes, face, posture, and the situation around them.

Learning to recognize body language can help us better understand what our dogs are trying to tell us.

What’s the easiest way you can tell when your dog is truly relaxed?

Pet Myth Thursday: Cats should drink milk.

It’s a common belief, but many adult cats have difficulty digesting lactose. Because of that, cow’s milk can cause stomach upset like diarrhea or vomiting.

Cats do not need cow’s milk as part of their regular diet, and fresh water should be their main source of hydration.

If you’ve ever pictured cats happily drinking a saucer of milk, you’re definitely not alone.

Did you grow up thinking cats should drink milk?

Rabies is preventable, but once clinical signs appear, it is almost always fatal.

This World Rabies Day, we’re reminding pet families that keeping rabies vaccines current helps protect pets, people, and our entire community.

The rabies vaccines we use here at the clinic also support a broader global effort. For every rabies vaccine given, another is donated to help vaccinate pets in communities with limited access to veterinary care.

Not sure when your pet’s rabies vaccine is due? Check with your veterinary team to make sure their vaccination is current.

Share this with a fellow pet parent as a reminder to check their pet’s vaccine status.

Pain management isn’t one-size-fits-all.

Every pet experiences pain differently, and the right plan can depend on their age, health, lifestyle, and what’s causing the discomfort.

Support may include pain-control treatments, weight and nutrition support, activity adjustments, and changes at home.

If you’re noticing changes in your pet’s comfort, movement, or behavior, talk with your veterinary team about what options may be appropriate for them.
