Our veterinary community is coming together to support Spokane. ❤️

As fires continue to impact the Spokane area, Spokane Humane Society is caring for animals already depending on them, preparing for those who may still need help, and supporting essential services throughout this crisis.

Lakefield Veterinary Group is matching donations dollar for dollar, up to $15,000, to help support their work.

If you're able to donate, every contribution helps. If you aren't able to give right now, sharing this post can help the fundraiser reach someone who can.

🐾 Pet Myth Thursday

Myth: One flea isn't a problem.

Fact: If you spot one flea, there are likely many more hiding in your pet's coat and your home. A single flea can lay dozens of eggs each day, allowing an infestation to grow quickly. Prompt treatment can help protect your pet and make the problem much easier to control.

💬 Have you ever dealt with a flea infestation?

Tommy Salami is officially back… this time as part of his new family! 💙

We first met this little guy before he officially found his people, so getting to welcome Tommy back for his first visit with his new family was pretty special.

He spent his appointment exploring, hanging out with JGP, and making his opinions VERY clear.

One thing we learned? Tommy Salami is not a fan of baby goats. 😂 We made the introduction, Tommy gave them a firm absolutely not, and that was the end of that friendship attempt.

We’re so happy to see this little guy settling into his new life, and we can’t wait to watch him grow!

What do you think Tommy was thinking when he met the goats? Wrong answers encouraged. 👇

Apparently the camera looked tasty. 😂

Everything Bagel, one of our Hospital Administrator’s bottle babies, came over to investigate... and apparently decided the camera needed a taste test. 😂

We’re not sure the tiny caveman riding along was much help. 🤠

What do you think was going through Bagel’s head? Tell us in the comments!

🐾 Pet Myth Thursday

Myth: Indoor cats don't need vaccines.

Fact: Even indoor cats can be exposed to diseases and parasites. They may escape outside, encounter insects or wildlife, or come into contact with viruses brought in on shoes, clothing, or other pets. Your veterinarian can recommend which vaccines are appropriate based on your cat's lifestyle.

💬 Is your cat an indoor adventurer, or do they enjoy supervised time outdoors?

Planning a summer getaway with your pet? A little preparation can go a long way toward keeping your trip safe and stress-free.

Before you hit the road, make sure you've packed the essentials:
→ Enough food for the entire trip (plus extra in case of delays)
→ Any medications and supplements your pet takes regularly
→ Water bowls and water bottles
→ Leash, harness, collar, and ID tags
→ Copies of vaccination records and important medical information
→ Comfort items like a favorite bed, blanket, or toy
→ Waste bags, litter, or other daily care supplies

It's also a good idea to research nearby veterinary hospitals and emergency clinics at your destination before you travel.

A little planning today can help you focus on making memories tomorrow! What is the one item you never forget when traveling with your pet? Tell us below!
