Whew! Portland is HOT!!
With temperatures rising, it’s important to remember that hot weather can become dangerous for our furry friends very quickly.
Here are a few ways to help keep your pets safe as things heat up:
💧 Always provide fresh, cool water
🌳 Make sure they have access to shade or air conditioning
🚫 Avoid walks during the hottest parts of the day
🐾 Remember: pavement can burn paws — if it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their feet
🚗 Never leave pets unattended in a vehicle, even for a few minutes
Signs of heatstroke can include excessive panting, drooling, weakness, vomiting, or collapse. If you notice any of these symptoms, seek veterinary care immediately.
Stay safe and help your pets beat the heat! ❤️
