This sweet boy is around 5 months old and came to us from Colony Ridge. He had his first FVRCP vaccine today and was an absolute sweetheart from start to finish.

Next up is his neuter at the Polk County SPCA. The surgery costs $90, and if anyone would like to sponsor all or part of it, we'd be incredibly grateful.

One more thing...he needs a name! What do you think we should call this handsome boy? 🤔

🐼 Panda Update 🐼

Panda saw Dr. Mazhoud at Porter Animal Hospital, where it was confirmed that he is FIV+.

FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) is often misunderstood. Unlike FeLV (Feline Leukemia Virus), FIV is not easily spread. It is transmitted almost exclusively through deep bite wounds, which is why it is most commonly found in unneutered male cats that have spent years fighting outdoors. It is not spread through sharing food and water bowls, using the same litter box, grooming, or simply living together.

Many FIV+ cats safely live alongside FIV- cats for years without transmitting the virus. They can enjoy long, happy, healthy lives with routine veterinary care and are just as deserving of loving homes.

For many years, FIV was treated much like FeLV because we didn't fully understand it. Thankfully, research has shown that FIV+ cats can have an excellent quality of life and don't need to be isolated simply because of their diagnosis.

Panda has already overcome so much. After being abandoned as a kitten outside Tractor Supply in 2023, he recently found his way back to us after his owner tragically passed away. While today's diagnosis confirms he is FIV+, it doesn't change who Panda is—a sweet, affectionate cat who deserves another chance at a loving family.

If you'd like to help support Panda's veterinary care and the many cats like him, donations are always greatly appreciated. ❤️

Panda is headed to see Dr. Mazhoud today.

Many of you may remember Panda. He first came to us in 2023 after being found abandoned outside of Tractor Supply as a tiny kitten. After being adopted, he recently returned to our care following the heartbreaking passing of his owner.

Today he'll have a thorough examination, and we'll also be confirming his FIV status. We'll share an update after his appointment.

Donations toward Panda's veterinary care are greatly appreciated. 🐾💙

It's transport day for Chevron! 💙

Today he's heading to Massachusetts, where he'll begin the next chapter of his life. After he arrives and completes his 48-hour quarantine, he'll finally get to meet his new family!

We're so excited for this sweet boy and can't wait for him to start the life he deserves. We know Brat is going to miss him, but there's no better goodbye than one that ends with a loving forever home. Safe travels, Chevron! 🐾

Kitten season has us busy! We currently have 34 kittens in our program, many of them in foster homes, but we still help provide the food and supplies they need. We also have a couple of dogs in our care.

We go through a lot of dry food each week, along with canned food for kittens, seniors, and cats who need extra nutritional support. Donations from our wishlist help keep bellies full and allow us to direct more of our funds toward spay/neuter surgeries, vaccinations, and other veterinary expenses.

If you'd like to help, our wishlist is linked below. Every donation makes a difference for the animals depending on us. 🩷

Remember the litter of kittens that was dumped in the woods? They're all settled into their foster home and are acting like happy, playful kittens now! 🥳

These little ones have come a long way and are thriving with lots of love and care. Before long, they'll be ready to find their forever homes after they've been spayed/neutered.

Misi had a follow-up appointment with Dr. Mazhoud at Porter Animal Hospital late this afternoon.

The good news is that she's gained a little weight, going from 3.5 lbs to 3.7 lbs, and she has noticeably more energy during the day than she did a week ago.

Unfortunately, her diarrhea has not improved. Her f***l test was negative for Giardia and other common parasites, so the veterinarian is sending a sample to a laboratory for more sensitive testing. Her anemia has improved slightly, but not as much as we had hoped, and her gums are still pale.

Misi went home with some prescription food, and we'll wait for the lab results before making any additional changes to her treatment plan.

Cases like Misi's are only possible because of your support. Today's visit was approximately $200, and she will require additional follow-up care. Thank you to everyone who helps us give cats like Misi a chance to heal.

Kitten season has been especially busy, and we are currently caring for dozens of cats and kittens, as well as a few dogs, who rely on us every day for food, litter, treats, and other essentials. Every item purchased helps stretch our rescue budget and allows us to direct more funds toward veterinary care.

Look who's up and exploring — and even made a new doggy friend! 🩷

Misi is continuing to make wonderful progress, and we couldn't be happier with how well she's doing. We're so grateful to her foster Miriam Campos for providing such loving care, and to SoRaiida Moreno Peña for advocating for her and helping make this possible.
