Mission Statement: CCHS is organized to ensure the protection, sheltering and welfare of all animals in and around Columbia County through a cooperative effort with our citizens. The Columbia County Humane Society was incorporated in 1925 in response to growing community need to care for unwanted and abandoned animals. Twenty years later, a new shelter was built at Highway 16 West and Industrial

Road. CCHS Mission Statement

CCHS is organized to ensure the protection, sheltering and welfare of all animals in and around Columbia County through a cooperative effort with our citizens. Each year, the Humane Society provides care and shelter to approximately 1300 animals. A number of these animals are strays brought in by local officials, transfers from other shelter or rescues or animals who are surrendered to CCHS by their owners. Over the years, we have saved the lives of countless animals through immediate care and treatment, and ultimately adoption. Because of the Society, otherwise unwanted animals have found happy, loving homes. The new shelter opened in 1998 to accommodate the increasing number of animals needing care and to provide increased services to the community, allowing the Society to continue its humanitarian work well into the 21st century.

💙 Remembering Pat Moldenhauer

Pat Moldenhauer was a friend to the cats at CCHS. Pat lovingly crocheted bags of blankets for our cats, and a volunteer would pick them up from the Cambria Library. Her handmade blankets brought comfort to so many cats at the shelter.

We are grateful for her kindness and will always remember the warmth she shared with our shelter.

We brought our GMC Savana transport van in for a routine oil change at Blystone's Towing & Repair, and when we arrived to pick it up, we were handed an invoice for the oil change and two bulbs replaced on our high‑mount stop lamp. At the bottom, the balance read: $0.00.

Blystone’s stepped up once again and donated the services to us — keeping our transport van safe, maintained, and ready for the daily work of picking up strays, transporting animals, and getting pets to their vet appointments.

We are so thankful for their continued support and generosity. Blystone’s truly shows what community partnership looks like, and we appreciate them more than we can say.

Venkat is an amazing 5‑year‑old cat with a heart full of sweetness. This boy loves people — especially when you’re cleaning his cage. The moment you open the door, he’s all about affection. He rubs on you, gives enthusiastic head‑butts, and circles back for even more rubs. If that doesn’t get your attention, he’ll roll around adorably until you can’t help but stop and pet him. Venkat is gentle, social, and genuinely wants to connect. He’s such a sweet boy and will make a wonderful companion for someone who appreciates an affectionate cat with a big personality. Apply to meet him at www.cchswi.org

Our cute little Trixie is currently at Pampered Paws Pet Resort! If you would like to meet her, she's available! She's just on vacation! :) Apply to adopt at www.cchswi.org

**Trixie is only 20 pounds. Her pictures make her look bigger but she's a peanut!**

Trixie-Pomeranian/Chihuahua/Rat Terrier/Australian Cattle Dog mix-female-6 1/2 months-20 pounds. Trixie is a 6½‑month‑old Pomeranian/Chihuahua/Rat Terrier/Australian Cattle Dog mix who came to us from an Amish farm, where she and her brother were the last of their litter and needed homes. She’s beautifully marked — a sable body, a merle‑colored head, and even a little white tip on her tail that makes her extra charming. Trixie is incredibly sweet and affectionate. She’s eager to please, willing to learn, and has already shown how much she enjoys connecting with people. She’s been around children, farm animals, and other dogs, giving her a great foundation for settling into a family. With her mix, we expect she’ll stay in the smaller‑medium-size range once fully grown. Fun‑loving, gentle, and full of potential, Trixie will make a wonderful companion for someone ready to give her a loving home. Apply to meet her at www.cchswi.org DATCP License #266742-DS

Linda's Spotlight! Linda chose to highlight Nanz because when she came to CCHS, she was unsteady, wobbly, and dehydrated, but with the care she needed, she’s made an incredible recovery. Linda fell in love with Nanz and hopes she gets adopted quickly. Nanz still has a tiny bit of wobble now and then, but you’d hardly notice unless you knew how she arrived. What stands out most now is her sweetness. Affectionately named after a staff member’s grandma — the nicest person you could ever meet — Nanz lives up to her name. She’s a petite, 1-year-old girl with super soft fur and beautiful coloring. Nanz loves curling up into a little ball for naps, soaking up attention, and enjoying her meals. She’s a gentle soul who brings calm, comfort, and quiet affection wherever she goes. If you’d like to meet this lovely girl and give her the safe, loving home she deserves, apply at www.cchswi.org.
