We are expecting very cold temperatures this Friday and Saturday.
Just to clarify, we are in a heated house. The dogs are free to come and go and are supervised by our staff, so we are able to make sure they aren't spending too much time outside where it could become a danger. They wrestle and play inside as well as outside and get lots of attention. We have beds inside they crash on for naps. Some dogs like to sit in front of the heating vents and some sprawl on the floor. At times in the past, I have closed the back door and kept the dogs playing inside with hourly bathroom breaks if they seem to be spending too much time outside. This week with the frigid temps earlier in the week, they were coming in and out much more and playing more inside while taking random runs outside to enjoy all the snow. It is a bit different here than at home where your dog may run out for a bathroom break and come right back in because with the group dynamic, they have friends to chase and play with, so they do tend to run around and play more than they probably would at home by themselves.
However, if you feel your dog would rather be at home and not come in, please let us know as much ahead of time as you can. Our policy is cancellations must be made before 8am. With these temps, if you can let us know the day before, it is helpful. It is always hard when we only have 1 or 2 dogs and they aren't playing, because I feel guilty that they aren't having a good time. We are more than happy to be here for the dogs, but I can honestly never predict what will happen because everyone has differing feelings on when to keep their dogs at home.
So far, we do have several confirmed dogs for Friday and Saturday, but if you aren't planning to come in, please let us know as much ahead of time as you can so we can decide if we need to adjust anything. Thank you!
