Milwood Animal Clinic We have been providing excellence in veterinary care for the Portage and Kalamazoo area for over 50 years.

Our small animal and exotic pet practice is skilled in meeting the health needs of your pet family member. Our doctors and staff regularly attend continuing education seminars to ensure that your pet receives the best care possible. We offer radiology, laboratory, and ultrasound diagnostics as well as preventive medicine, behavior consultations, pet boarding services, bird and exotic pet medicine, and soft tissue surgery.

It is with sadness that we share that our Chief of Staff, Dr. Alissa Smitley, is announcing her retirement and will be moving on to the next chapter in her life. Her last day at Milwood will be November 12th, 2026.

A Message From Dr. Smitley:
"Thank you to all the wonderful clients and patients over the years. It has truly been an honor to be a trusted part of your pets' lives, many of you for several generations of pets. I also want to thank the amazing staff members and other doctors at Milwood that have worked alongside me with expertise and care for all of our patients. I will miss all of my clients and staff, as well as the incredible pets who made each day a pleasure."

Dr. Smitley has provided to our patients and their families over the years. She has been a cherished member of our team since 1997, and we know many of you have formed lasting relationships with her throughout her time at Milwood Animal Clinic.

Please join us in thanking her for everything she has contributed to our hospital and wishing her the best in this next chapter.🐾
