Friends of Felines in Calvert County

501c3 group of volunteers to help the cat population in our county. We TNRM, rescue from dangerous situations, and adopt out cats and kittens.

Friends of Felines' focus is on rescuing free roaming or abandoned cats and placing them in managed colonies or permanent homes. Working with property owners and families throughout Calvert County Maryland, we help curb cat overpopulation at its source by providing a humane alternative to euthanasia. Our objective is to decrease the number of displaced cats and work alongside other rescue groups,

Animal Control and the Tri-County Animal Shelter in our shared goal to make Calvert County a place where healthy stray cats are given a better future. All the cats we trap or rescue are tested for feline leukemia and aids. They are spayed or neutered and given all their shots. They are micro- chipped for later identification. The cats that are returned to managed colonies are ear-tipped so Animal Control personnel know they have been vetted. By employing methods of trap, neuter, return and maintain (TNRM) we provide citizens with the tools and the training to care for cats on their own property after they have been fully vetted. The cats that can be socialized are placed in our volunteer foster homes. Our foster families create a nurturing environment for each cat and kitten until they are adopted. We have volunteer adoption teams that hold adoption events on a weekly basis. Semi-domestic cats are placed in barn homes throughout Maryland and Virginia. We are SO incredibly thankful for every family who came out today and opened their hearts and homes to our cats and kittens. ❤️ Because of you, 13 lives are starting a brand-new chapter!

But our work is far from over… We still have 100 cats and kittens in foster care who are counting on us for food, litter, medical care, and all the essentials they need while they wait for their forever families.

Meet Wilson(Blk) and Sully (Blk&Wht)

Two cute movie star heroes that will steal your hearts.

Captain Sully glided in smoothly landing perfectly with an engine that never stops and soft cuddles on demand. He answers his name (unless he is trying to get away with something). His cute little swagger can be seen in his walk. He loves everything but especially small colorful balls. This legendary hero needs a fur-ever home.

Wilson is Sully’s constant companion. Litter mates with a hard start. Wilson lagged behind in weight and Sully protected him while he caught up. Now big he is the one to start the comedy. Wilson loves to “talk” big and chase everyone. He attacks scratchers and steals his brothers fluffy toy balls to instigate a game of tag. Fun loving and playful, Wilson loves to have a good scritch and cuddle. I answer to my name from anywhere. Playfully yell “Wilson” and I come running.

NOTE: These brothers are on a special diet- no chicken and no corn. Currently on Now Fresh Kitten dry food and Applaws Fish Selection in broth.

⚠️ Important Shelter Update⚠️

The Linda L. Kelley Animal Shelter will operate by appointment only Monday, Aug. 3, through Saturday, Aug. 8. Staff will continue accepting emergency cases and stray animal intakes during this time. The shelter will continue offering adoptions during this period and those interested in adopting are encouraged to schedule an appointment.

To schedule an appointment, contact the Linda L. Kelley Animal Shelter at 410-535-7387. For emergencies, contact Calvert County Animal Control at 410-535-1600, ext. 2526.
