Meet Nera! Nera is the third dog to come through our program from her family over the years and boy did they outdo themselves this time! All of their dogs have been great, but they knew the drill and got started with Nera quickly at home and it paid off in big ways. Nera came in way ahead of the curve and we enjoyed doing some finishing and polishing to her obedience and social skills. She’s ready to follow in her sister’s paw prints!

Meet Frannie! Frannie finished up her Stay & Train last week and her owners have given us some lovely updates about her progress since returning home! Frannie came in a very anxious/fearful young dog with low thresholds for stimuli. Frannie clearly had a sweet disposition, but her nervous behaviors were overshadowing her virtues and her owners were having a difficult time. She was barking constantly, had knocked people over, was constantly a ball of nerves on alert and was generally difficult to manage. We spent our time with Frannie building confidence, growing her exposures, helping her to conquer fears and building a practical skill set. Frannie’s best attributes are now shining and everyone can see what her owners always saw. She’s a sweet and enthusiastic girl!

Meet Fergus! Fergus finished up his Stay & Train this week and we already miss this goofball! Fergus is a lot of puppy in a big body. His owners knew he was going to be a giant so they wanted to start early to make sure Fergus had a solid skill set. We worked with their last pup many years ago, so they have a good idea of why to expect and Fergus is in experienced hands back home in West Virginia. Next time we see him, he may be taller than us! 😉

Meet Mabel! Mabel finished up her Stay & Train this past week and is settling into her maintenance at home with a good report! She was a serious wild child and also a big scaredy cat. She would drag you around on leash, run you over when she played and bust through doors and crates like she was in a stampede. She was also afraid of big things that moved or made loud noises so she likes to keep you on your toes about what she might do 😆 Mabel picked up her skills, learned to monitor herself and respond to feedback about using her size to bowl you over and was a joy to work with. She loved the other dogs and they loved her more and more as she learned to take it easy with them. Gentle giant working on the gentle part 😉Good girl, Mabel!

Meet Annie! Annie finished up her Stay & Train a few weeks ago and was back for her follow up and her owners were so proud of her! Annie came in dealing with reactivity and a tendency to get into fits of barking that her owners couldn’t manage. What turned up during training was that Annie was surprising mellow once we introduced some skills and opened up clear lines of communication. Sometimes you find a dog that is so eager and ready to work with you once they begin to understand the expectation and Annie was quick to dial in and it was smooth sailing from there! Those are big wins and we thoroughly enjoyed our time with this sweet girl!

Meet Frankie! Frankie recently wrapped up his Stay & Train. He came in a sweet little guy with a bit of a stubborn streak. He was easily frustrated if he was not getting what he wanted and it made it difficult for his owners to ask for skills when Frankie had other things in mind. We spent our time with him building a practical skill set, developing impulse control, increasing his ability to tolerate frustration, growing his focus and opening up clear communication. He did wonderfully and we can’t wait for this little gentleman-in-training to impress all of his neighbors!

Meet Luna! This intro feels like a huge celebration. Luna has been an exercise in patience and persistence. She stands out as a dog who has longer range goals that normal and has been a slow (and not always steady) progression towards very simple goals. Luna is a dog who knows all the skills but we weren’t sure how much she could/would form bonds outside her two people at home. Luna was out of her muzzle accepting and soliciting pets this past week and it was an enormous win. She’s not doing that for everyone. But she seems to have accepted a new person and that is big news for Luna!
