IMPORTANT NOTE
When it comes to placing our puppies and even our retired adults, I truly believe that finding a loving, forever home is far more important than just a quick placement. My care for each and every one of them doesn’t end when they leave. It's about ensuring they go to a family that will cherish and care for them for the rest of their lives. I stay connected with literally all my families because their happiness and well-being mean everything to me.
I’ve seen situations where someone adopts a puppy, only to realize days or months later that it wasn't the right fit. I understand that life can bring unexpected changes, but please remember that bringing a dog into your life is a heartfelt, lifelong commitment for both of you.
Before reaching out about one of our puppies or even one of our adults, please take a moment to honestly reflect on your lifestyle:
• Do you travel often?
• Do you already have other pets?
• Are you prepared to take care of a puppy or dog?
• Are you willing to offer them the time, patience, and love they need, even if it takes weeks or months?
Dogs need patience, love, and gentle guidance to feel safe and loved. They leave behind their first home and rely on us to help them settle in with understanding and kindness. If your plan is, “If it doesn’t work quickly, we’ll bring them back,” I kindly ask you to stop and pause and think carefully before considering adoption. If that is how you are thinking getting a puppy is not right for you.
These dogs deserve families who are patient, compassionate, and committed through all the ups and downs and not just during the initial honeymoon phase.
I'm going to start sharing the 3-3-3 Rule. It's more than a guideline, it’s a heartfelt reminder to set everyone up for success:
The First 3 Days: Decompression
Allow your new furry friend some space to settle in feeling scared or overwhelmed is completely natural. Create a peaceful, safe environment, and let them find their rhythm without pressure.
The First 3 Weeks: Building Trust
As they begin to feel secure, their true personality shines through. Offer gentle support, positive reinforcement, and gradually introduce them to new people, pets, and experiences.
The First 3 Months: Feeling @ Home
By now, your dog starts to see this family as forever. Continue reinforcing good habits, building confidence, and nurturing your bond with love, patience, and training.
Remember, each dog is unique some adjust quickly, others need more time, and that’s perfectly okay.
At Gallery Blue Schnauzers, every puppy and adult dog we raise is loved dearly. Saying goodbye is very difficult, and we all do it with a heavy heart, always hoping they find families who will treasure and care for them long-term, not just for a short moment.
Thank you to all the wonderful families who have opened their hearts and homes over the years. Your patience, kindness, and love means everything, and most importantly, to the dogs now calling you family. ❤️
