Goomba always knows how to make a splash 💦 we won’t name names here, but someone broke his favorite pool 👀 if you have a kiddie pool available to donate, please bring it by the Barkhouse location and come meet the goofy Goomba that we know and love! He has been waiting a year to be adopted, and deserves the comfort of a couch for the rest of his days 🥰

Happy National Rescue Dog Day! We’re so grateful to have an incredible community of dog adopters! Cocobeans first came to us underweight, and with a litter of 8 puppies to feed, this last week she went home with her new guardian and gets to spend the rest of her days with a full belly cuddled up on a couch where she belongs! Thank you for all of your support in helping us provide care and shelter to rescue dogs like Cocobeans until they find new homes 🐾

Cats like Sarabi need your help! Sarabi came to us as a small kitten with littermates, but her eye was always inflamed and squinty! After visiting the vet, we originally thought it was a cut and dry infection which we attempted to treat. When her eye wasn’t getting better she was diagnosed with entropion, a condition where the eyelashes grow on the inside of the eyelid and irritate/damage the eye. Because of her young age, we worked with local specialists to try to cure this condition with a new technique utilizing Botox, which unfortunately didn’t take, and she ultimately required surgery to remove the part of her eyelid that was growing hair in the wrong places! Sarabi is our second entropion kitty this year, and these procedures are not cheap! Sarabi is on the mend, but please consider donating to OPHS to help us continue to provide care to cats like Sarabi! 😻

From all of us at OPHS to all forms of mothers out there, we’d like to wish you a Happy Mother’s Day 💞
Motherhood takes on many forms. It’s the mother soothing her child back to sleep, the kitten foster mom waking up every 3 hours to bottle feed, or the senior dog mom who helps their now arthritic 15 year old pup in and out of the car! A mother’s love knows no bounds and is not confined to one species! So thank you to all of the mothers who constantly show care and compassion to the living beings around them 💐 your role in this world is so necessary, and we’re so grateful for you! 🌸

Our second meeting is today at 3:00 PM at 91 S Boyce Rd, Sequim WA - if you’ve lost a pet and would like a safe space to talk about them, come join us as we partner with the social workers from VHOCC Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County in a pet loss grief support group 💞

Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County, in partnership with Olympic Peninsula Humane Society, is hosting a Pet Loss Support Group with social workers from VHOCC moderating and leading the group sessions.

This group will be held at Kitty City, 91 S Boyce Road, starting Monday, March 30, from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. with the second slated Monday, April 13, at the same time.

Our goal is to provide the community with a safe space to talk about their beloved pets who have passed on and help those who are struggling with loss to feel a sense of community support as they process the grief that comes when all of the love you had for a fluffy companion suddenly has nowhere to go.

No RSVP is necessary.
