She’s a beauty!
A little note from Mother Nature before another long day of chores at the sanctuary.
Things have been stacked back to back the last two weeks, I keep thinking I’ll have a day to rest and that never comes.
This is a big push today and a huge blessing to get it done before what may be our first week of fall rain.
There’s always that one storm or back to back storms that change everything around here. I trade in my Ariats for my Xtra Tuffs, and get my boat legs ready because doing chores in the mud and wet ground is next level and a lot like being on a boat.

I wanted to send out a heartfelt hello and thank you to all of our new followers! Little Bear sure has created a buzz an...

I wanted to send out a heartfelt hello and thank you to all of our new followers! Little Bear sure has created a buzz and brought in some wonderful energy to our page!
✨
We are a wild horse sanctuary for senior and special needs horses, most of our herd members were at one time federally protected wild and free roaming horses on our American prairie and rangelands.
✨
While our passion is rescuing at risk wild horses, we are committed to the horses in our community as well. With several other domestic horse rescues in our area, it’s not often that we are called for help, but certain circumstances lead these horses to us. ♥️

Morning nickers from Little Bear, she’s a little stiff first thing, but trust me, she’s getting around so much better!
Please excuse the mess! She had a literal hay day yesterday and shoved her hay out of the bowl, spread it around, ate most of it, pooped on the rest. Don’t worry, the clean up crew is on its way!

Big Dipper plus ponies!
Jetta, Kix, Luna, River and Willow are there somewhere.
Anywho, we had 50 yards of shavings delivered today, it’s what a lot of folks use to layer up the ground around and inside their barns when they’re not fancy, we’re not fancy, but we’re feeling super deluxe with all this fresh bedding and footing, softness for those senior feet!
We’ll use a tractor to push it into place and then stash a bunch in the barn.
So yeah, how about those stars! 🤩

Sweet Tahoma. 🩵

We’ve been rehabbing his feet for the better part of a year, when Dr. Adams was out for little Bear we had her take X-rays of his front feet to confirm what we assumed was going on and figure out a treatment plan.
Tahoma has navicular disease but also in his right foot, the one we were most concerned about, the navicular bone is very abnormal and there’s arthritis.
We are going to start him on Equioxx and make some adjustments to his boots and go from there. The X-rays give Pamela a good look at how to move forward with trimming his feet.

Never a dull moment around here, Pamela is back to trim some horses today, Cosmo, Wichoni, Fee, and Maple. Healthy feet,...
