We’re officially opening up our first Monday Bath & Blow-Out Day at DogGone Good Groomin’! 🤎

We have a few spots available for our Bath & Blow-Out service — perfect for pups who need a good bath, a thorough blow-out, and some freshening up without a full haircut!

We are asked quite frequently…

🐾 WHAT EXACTLY IS A DE-SHED / SHED MAINTENANCE SESSION? 🐾

Let’s talk about what a de-shed actually means, because it’s SO much more than simply brushing your dog. ❤️

A proper de-shed is an in-depth grooming technique designed to safely remove loose undercoat and help your pet maintain a healthier, cleaner coat.

✨ It’s a process that includes:

🛁 Multiple baths & rinses — We thoroughly cleanse the coat and help loosen the dead, shedding undercoat.

💨 High-velocity undercoat blowout — This is where the magic happens! The high-velocity dryer helps push loose undercoat out from deep within the coat that brushing alone simply cannot remove.

🧴 Deep conditioning — Conditioning helps soften and loosen the coat, making it easier to release that stubborn dead undercoat without aggressively pulling or brushing.

🪮 Thorough comb-through — Once the coat is properly dried and conditioned, we work through it carefully to remove as much loose undercoat as possible.

🔍 Final inspection — We go back through the coat to make sure we’ve gotten as much of that loose, dead hair out as we safely can.

A de-shed is NOT just “extra brushing.”

It is a combination of bathing, conditioning, high-velocity drying, technique, and detailed finishing work to get deep into the coat and remove loose undercoat.

And because every coat is different, the amount of hair that comes out can vary from pet to pet. Some dogs may have a mountain of fluff come out, while others may simply need routine shed maintenance.

The goal isn’t to make your dog “stop shedding” — that’s not possible! 😂

The goal is to remove the loose coat before it ends up all over your house, furniture, clothes and car while keeping the coat healthy and comfortable.

So when you book a De-Shed / Shed Maintenance, you’re not just paying for a brush-out.

You’re paying for the technique, products, equipment, time and experience that go into properly working that undercoat. 🐶❤️

At DogGone Good Groomin’, we believe in doing it thoroughly — not just quickly running a brush through the coat and calling it a day.

People say doodles don’t shed but guess what? Murphy does! Like ungodly amounts of hair. 🤭

His pawrents signed him up for a de-shed and shave every couple of months to manage it. And guess what?! He gets to enjoy it at home. 🫶🏼🐶💕

Because we operate as a ONE-ON-ONE salon, we ask that you please call ahead whenever possible so we can let you know what availability looks like and help keep everyone’s pups comfortable and relaxed.

🐶👂 A Little Reminder About Those Ears!

Twyla has an important message. 😉

All of our basic grooming packages include ear cleaning + nail trim & Dremel as part of your pup’s regular care. 🐾❤️

BUT… sometimes those little ears need a little extra TLC from the veterinarian. 🩺

If your pet is currently being treated for an ear infection or has medication in their ears, PLEASE let us know at drop-off/upon arrival and tell us any instructions your veterinarian has given you regarding cleaning.

We don’t want to accidentally clean medication out, irritate an already sensitive ear, or interfere with your pet’s treatment. ❤️

👉 If your vet has instructed you NOT to clean/pluck your pet’s ears, please make sure we know before grooming begins!

We’re happy to follow your veterinarian’s instructions and adjust the groom and our notes accordingly.

As always, communication is key! You know your pup best, and we appreciate you keeping us in the loop so we can give them the safest, most comfortable grooming experience possible. 🐶💕
