Have you ever caught yourself thinking..."Maybe they're just slowing down"?
It's easy to chalk little changes up to getting older. But sometimes they're not signs of aging at all. Sometimes they're signs of arthritis. In fact, osteoarthritis affects 40% of pets — but most go undiagnosed. And the good news? Arthritis pain can often be managed with safe, effective treatments and isn't something your pet simply has to live with. So, if you do notice any potential signs – talk to us! We can help your pet feel like themselves.

🐶Please join us in welcoming our newest doctor to the team!!🐈‍⬛

Dr. Jonathan R. Kinsman, BVM, MRCVS, MS was born in Johannesburg, South Africa and moved to Virginia in 2004. He attended Virginia Commonwealth University, earning his B.S. in Biology in 2019, followed by an M.S. in Biomedical Sciences from Liberty University in 2022. He then attended the Royal Veterinary College in London, England, where he earned his Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine in June 2026.

Dr. Kinsman has always had a love for both medicine and animals. Originally interested in human medicine, he ultimately chose veterinary medicine because of his lifelong love of animals and growing up in a home with many pets. Attending the Royal Veterinary College gave him the opportunity to experience a different style of veterinary education while learning from both American and European approaches to veterinary medicine.

As a new veterinarian, Dr. Kinsman has a particular interest in internal medicine, nutrition, and ophthalmology. He enjoys the variety of general practice and looks forward to learning something new every day while building relationships with his patients and their families. He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and Virginia Veterinary Medical Association and is a Member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (MRCVS).

Outside of the office, Dr. Kinsman enjoys spending time with friends and family, watching sports, and spending time outdoors.

Help us give Dr. Kinsman a warm welcome!

They may not be able to tell us when something hurts—but they can show us. 🐾
Pets are incredibly good at hiding pain. But changes in their everyday behavior can be their way of saying, “Something doesn’t feel right.”

👀 Knowing what to look for can help you recognize pain sooner.
Here are some common signs your pet may be uncomfortable. And if you notice a change in your pet—talk with your veterinary team. ❤️
