Today we ended the 2026 hay baling season at the Pearl River Hay Farm. We are truly saddened that we have to leave so many of our customers without hay this last cutting. As is often the case, our last cutting of the year was severely impacted by drought this year. We really had only 1 meaningful rain since July of this year. Our grass simply will not grow much without water. October is a very pleasant time of the year to get hay but some years there isn’t much hay to get. This year drought has really impacted us all. We really apologize to all of you that we could not fully serve this year. We simply cannot sell what we cannot grow.

If it is our Lords will, we will be back next year and we hope that you will also. Hopefully we will be blessed with more favorable weather and normal production so that we can serve you better in 2027.

After we get all the equipment cleaned up and put away for the winter, we will get a few weeks off before beginning w**d control for the 2027 crop in December.
May Almighty God bless you and your families and we wish you a happy and prosperous remainder of 2026 and 2027.
See y’all next year!

Update: Sold out for this weekend. 1 field left sometime next week.

The weather forecast looks absolutely perfect for our big push hay weekend. If you want hay from us this year please text Heather at 601-795-7551. At the time of this post we are over 80% sold out for both days this weekend. We will be baling both Saturday and Sunday. Please don’t delay contacting Heather as we don’t have many more available. After this weekend we will only have 1 smaller field left to bale this year.
See you this weekend!

The weather has surely gone from wet to dry in just a few weeks. In the picture is a 007 field that in great shape. Most likely it won’t be ready to bale until sometime in September. Make plans to get in on the last cutting which will probably begin in September. Good hay is going to be in short supply in this area this fall.

2026 hay season update: since the last part of May 2026 hay production conditions have been quite unfavorable to produce high quality hay. We certainly haven’t gone away, its just that we have not been able to produce any hay that meets our quality standards. 2 weeks ago we had to sacrifice a 17 acre field to round bales of hay for our cattle because the quality wasn’t good enough to meet our standards for horse hay that we are so proud of. We are now getting somewhat better conditions and have a few fields that are currently progressing quite nicely. Hopefully, very soon we will have some high quality hay to produce for you.

After weeks of waiting, we finally have ground conditions dry enough and a great weather forecast for baling hay! We are planning to bale hay tomorrow and Saturday, and at this time we still have a few bales available that have not been spoken for.

Unfortunately, the forecast turns wet again after this weekend, and we simply do not know how long it will take for fields to dry out enough to get back into them. If you need hay, now is the time to get it secured before the weather changes again.

If you know someone looking for quality horse hay, please send them our way! We would greatly appreciate you sharing this post with your friends and fellow horse owners.

📱 The best way to contact us is by text message.
Text Heather at 601-795-7551 (tel:601-795-7551) to reserve your hay or be added to our customer list.

Don’t wait until you’re down to your last few bales—once this weather window closes, it may be a while before we can bale again!

We officially kicked off the 2026 hay season this afternoon!

We are thankful to report that everything went smoothly today with no equipment malfunctions, and we are hopeful to bale again as soon as the weather permits. We know several customers on our list were not reached today, because we only bale a small amount of hay on opening day in the event of equipment problems . Please do not worry — we have plenty more hay coming in the very near future.

As always, the best way to ensure you are added to our 2026 customer list is to text Heather directly at 601-795-7551. While we do our best to keep up with Facebook comments and messages, comments can occasionally be missed, and we never want anyone to miss out on the hay they need for their horses.

One of our favorite parts of hay season is hearing feedback from our customers. Already today, one customer shared that she swept out her trailer and that her animals loved the scraps left behind! Another customer told us that her horses left the green grass in the pasture to come eat the fresh hay instead. Comments like these make all the hard work worth it and remind us why we love what we do.

Also , we wanted to share a picture of one of our customers beautiful horses enjoying the first hay of 2026 season. @
Thank you all so much for your continued support — we are excited for another great hay season ahead!

It’s time for hay! We’ve all been waiting for several months to get into this position. Hay is just beginning to grow enough to begin harvesting. Hopefully in a couple of days the ground will dry enough to cut the hay and we’ll be baling late this weekend. If we are able to bale soon your horses will be treated to some of the best hay that we have ever produced. We always go small on the first field because hay equipment is usually ornery after having the winter off. Then if all goes well it’s up to the weather, and at present that looks pretty good. Text Heather at 601-795-7551 to get in line. See y’all soon.

Edit.
As stated earlier: first field of the year we only bale a small amount of hay. This is to allow for equipment malfunctions or other problems typical of machinery that has been idle for several months. Currently we are PLANNING to bale Sunday. That may not be possible Given the extreme rainfall the last two weeks. The ground has to dry out a bit before we can cut the hay.
We certainly won’t be able to get to everyone the first day but we’ll have a lot more to come in a few more days.
