Our mission is to have a fenced in, off leash area where well behaved canine citizens can exercise in a clean, safe environment that is open to all.

Today, **August 26, 2026**, we’re celebrating the joy, loyalty, companionship, and unconditional love our canine friends bring into our lives! 🐶💙

National Dog Day was founded in 2004 by animal advocate Colleen Paige. She chose August 26 because it marks the day her family adopted her beloved Sheltie when she was just 10 years old. The day celebrates 𝗔𝗟𝗟 𝗗𝗢𝗚𝗦—purebreds, mixed breeds, working dogs, rescue dogs, and our everyday four-legged best friends—while also shining a light on dogs still waiting for loving homes.

🐕 𝗪𝗛𝗬 𝗧𝗢𝗗𝗔𝗬 𝗠𝗔𝗧𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗦

Dogs do so much more than make us smile. They serve as:
🐾 Service animals
🐾 Therapy companions
🐾 Search-and-rescue partners
🐾 Medical detection dogs
🐾 Loyal family members and best friends

Their incredible noses contain hundreds of millions of scent receptors, helping dogs perform amazing work in search and rescue, detection, and other specialized roles.

And simply sharing life with a dog can encourage us to get moving, spend more time outdoors, connect with others, and enjoy plenty of tail-wagging happiness! ❤️

Sweet Taffy absolutely stole our hearts! 🥹💙 With her 𝗯𝗲𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗯𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗲𝘆𝗲𝘀 and gentle personality, she was such a sweetheart while celebrating with her whole human family. 🐶👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

At just 𝟭𝟬 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵𝘀 𝗼𝗹𝗱, Taffy already knows what she loves:

🐾 **Meet Taffy, our Dog of the Month!** 🐾

The Downtown Dog Park is excited to celebrate **Taffy**, a sweet 10-month-old girl who loves tennis balls, bones, and keeping her family on their toes! 🎾🦴

Her “naughtiest moment”? Taffy says she got a little scared when Mom picked her up… and accidentally peed on Dad’s socks. 😂 We appreciate the honesty, Taffy!

Congratulations to this adorable pup on being our **Dog of the Month**! Be sure to give Taffy an extra tail wag and hello if you see her around the park. ❤️🐶

☀️🐾 HOT PAVEMENT WARNING! 🐾☀️

Summer walks are great, but pavement can become dangerously hot—even when the air temperature feels manageable. Before heading out with your pup, remember the 7-Second Rule:

🖐️ Place the back of your hand on the pavement for seven seconds.
🔥 If it is too hot for your hand, it is too hot for your dog’s paws!

Help protect those precious paws by:

⏰ Avoiding mid-day walks
🌤️ Walking during cooler morning or evening hours
🌱 Choosing grass or shaded areas whenever possible
🥾 Considering protective dog booties

Always check the ground before you walk. A little preparation can help keep your pup safe, comfortable, and happy all summer long! ❤️🐶

Join the Summer Photo Challenge, presented by the Butler County Wellness Council. Grab your family, check off some fun summer activities, and snap a picture while you’re at it!

From trips to the Downtown Dog Park to swimming and hiking, picnics in the park, popsicles, fireworks, and more, there are so many ways to enjoy the season right here in our community.

🌳 We especially encourage everyone to get out and explore our beautiful parks this summer. Whether you’re walking the trails, having a picnic, swimming, playing, relaxing, or making memories with family and friends, our parks are a great place to celebrate all the excitement of summer!

🎉🐾 Meet Famous, our July Dog of the Month! 🐾🎉

Famous is a 2-year-old French Bulldog with a big personality and an even bigger love for treats! His favorite trick is sitting, his favorite toys are stuffed animals, and when it comes to snacks, he loves them all—especially Beggin’ treats!

Famous’ perfect day is spending time with Jen, and his naughtiest moment came when he chased the neighbor’s poodle. He only wanted to play, but the poodle had other plans and ran to hide! 😂
