Henry update! 💙

This sweet, resilient boy is continuing to improve. He's gaining weight, enjoying all sorts of TLC, and being a wonderful patient for his vet visits.

Henry has now had multiple examinations from our veterinary team. They believe that he has abnormal proprioception in his back legs, especially in the right one. This basically means that Henry struggles to sense his body's position and movement, making things like walking and running more challenging.

Our vet recommends waiting until he is at a healthy weight for sedation to perform X-rays to ensure there are no further abnormalities to his spine or hips. No other obvious issues were noted with his physical exam, so it is possible that the issues are due to emaciation and poor nutrition. Henry is currently on pain medication to ensure his comfort until further diagnostics can be performed.

We are actively looking for a foster-to-adopt home for Henry while he continues his healing journey. Due to his medical needs, we are currently only considering local applications. To apply for Henry or any of the other wonderful pets in our care, head over to marl.org and fill out an application today. 💙

The outpouring of love for Henry has been nothing short of incredible.

Since being found tied to a pole across the street from our shelter, severely emaciated and in desperate need of help, Henry has been surrounded by the love and care he deserves. He's slowly gaining strength, but still has a long road ahead.

Henry's story has touched thousands of hearts. But sadly, animals in desperate need of help arrive at MARL daily.

Houdini was brought to MARL after being found outside. He'd been living life as a stray, and although he was very friendly, he was in desperate need of medical intervention.

This poor little guy was suffering from a necrotic wound at the base of his tail. The tail itself was completely dead, and fortunately we were able to amputate before the necrosis spread.

With this new lease on life, Houdini began to truly thrive. He was understandably a very popular kitten during his time at MARL, and we're happy to report that yesterday Houdini found his forever home! Best wishes to the little man and his new family!

While Houdini may be gone, there are still lots and lots of fantastic cats and kittens waiting patiently for their big opportunity to be somebody's baby. Visit marl.org to browse all of our adoptable pets and apply for adoption today. 💙
