Sunday’s group was a good reminder of something we tell our clients all the time:
Your dog knowing a command and your dog being reliable are two different things.
We had several newer clients who had just started or were in the middle of their programs. We’ve heard it before—“They know all of this at home.”
Then we changed the environment.
Different dogs. Different people. New smells. Movement. Distractions.
And there was the a-ha moment.
The dogs didn’t suddenly forget their training. We simply showed the handlers where the training still needed work.
Home is supposed to be easy. Your neighborhood eventually becomes easy too. The goal is having the same communication and control when nothing around you is familiar.
That’s reliability.
That’s why we tell our clients to come to group—and why unlimited lifetime monthly group training is included with every LBK9 program. 💪🐾
