Better Together Animal Alliance (formerly Panhandle Animal Shelter) is dedicated to serving the animals of North Idaho. Our programs are focused on keeping families together and though sheltering is still part of our services we want sheltering to be a small part of what we do because our work keeps families together.

💙🐾 **Community Supporting Community** 🐾💙

A huge THANK YOU to Dr. Cameron and Rylie at Intermountain Wellness and Chiropractic for their generous donation of $1,554 raised during their “Ayla Day” on September 22.

We’re so grateful they chose to honor their beloved “professional greeter” in such a meaningful way. 💙

Their donation will help care for local cats and dogs, carrying Ayla’s love forward and making a difference for other pets in our community. 🙏

⚽️ GO BULLDOGS! ⚽

Field of Dreams is playing host to the 5A Idaho Soccer State Championships this weekend, and we’re ready to cheer on both the Girls & Boys Sandpoint High School Bulldogs!

Izzy and Gordy are also warming up! They’ve got the soccer balls, the footwork … but absolutely NO interest in passing to a teammate. 😂 They’re happy to share the field with their favorite humans, but other four-legged players? Immediate red card. 🟥🐕

But that’s OK! We’ll keep working on their skills while they cheer on the Dogs and all the human athletes from the sidelines. 'Cause for Izzy and Gordy, turns out being a team player is optional when you’re a professional ball hog ...

Dear Mabel,

Well, I’ll be. Another day, another biscuit, and still no word from the home front.

The accommodations here are tolerable, I suppose. Meals arrive on schedule, the staff seem decent enough, and I’ve yet to encounter a soul who doesn’t appreciate my company. (Their judgment is sound.)

But between you and me, Mabel, a fellow can only make do with temporary quarters for so long. I’m ready for a proper home, a familiar face, and someone who understands that a gentleman of my young standing requires a comfortable place to rest his head.

If you hear tell of a suitable arrangement, do send word posthaste.

🥳 It's National Veterinary Technician Week! 🥳

We're celebrating the skilled, dedicated techs who help keep our veterinary team running and if you're curious about joining their ranks, here's where to start:

🩺 Get the education. Complete an approved veterinary technology program, typically a two-year associate degree.

🐾 Learn the science. Study animal health, nursing care, lab work, anesthesia and surgical assisting.

🐕 Get hands-on experience. Explore what animal care and veterinary work are really like.

📝 Pass the national exam. The standard pathway includes passing the Veterinary Technician National Examination (VTNE).

📋 Meet state requirements. In Idaho, you'll need to meet the requirements for certification.

❤️ Know what you're signing up for. It's rewarding work that takes teamwork, attention to detail and resilience.

Deadhead? Night owl? Believer in personal space, good snacks, and not rushing a good thing? Gordy might be your guy.

This handsome dude is looking for an adult-only home where he can take life at his own pace, build his circle of trust, and settle in with humans who understand that friendship is earned, not demanded.

He can coexist with other pets with proper introductions, but slow and steady is the name of the game.

Cowboys have lassos. BTAA’s canine team has slip leads. 🐾

And thanks to our friends at EzyDog North America, we’ve got seven new leashes in the holster!

These handy tools help our team safely and easily es**rt canine guests from kennels to play yards to visits and everywhere in-between! Basically, they help keep our dogs - and our people - moving right along.

Our Nellie has the manners, confidence, and opinions to live up to her Little House on the Prairie namesake. She can be a little barky, so she’s looking for a confident human who can lead with calm, consistent guidance and appreciate a girl who isn’t exactly shy about speaking her mind.
