How are you keeping water troughs clean? This one is only a few months old and already nasty.

Black Baldy cattle are one of the better-known beef cattle crosses in the U.S. They’re typically produced by crossing Angus and Hereford, giving them the familiar black body with a white face.

They’re used in beef production because crossbreeding can bring together useful traits from both breeds while adding heterosis, or hybrid vigor, which can improve traits such as fertility, calf survival, and overall production depending on the breeding program.

Fun fact: The “Baldy” part has nothing to do with being hairless. In cattle, “baldy” describes an animal with a prominent white face against a darker body. So Black Baldy basically means a black-bodied animal with a white “bald” face.

Sometimes it seems that way in farming and cows. Lol

Or “there’s a cow out”.

Filled up the tank. So blessed that we have the means to do that. It’s been so hot it is really evaporating fast. Need rain but we’re not the only ones. Grateful for what we have!

Green pastures this time of year in central Texas aren’t common. We are thankful for the irrigation and the rains from this year. We stay blessed even on the hard days.
