🐐 How to check Body Condition Scoring for goats

BCS is a scale from 1-5
1 being emaciated
5 being very over conditioned
3 being ideal

We never check BCS based on their belly! We only check their spine and any visible bones.

On my farm I have 2, 3 and 4.

My 2s are from my dams who have just kidded and are lactating and feeding multiples.

My 4s are those said babies 😅

I strive for all 3s and 4s.

Got an unwanted fire ant mound popping up on the farm and driving you crazy? 🐜🔥 We’ve all been there, and while it might be tempting to just dump a kettle of boiling water out there and hope for the best, you have to make sure you are using enough water and dish soap to actually pe*****te deep into those underground tunnels and reach the queen! 🌾🚜 If you don't get deep enough down, they will just rebuild or move their entire colony a few feet over and pop right back up to annoy you all over again. 👩‍🌾✨ It is definitely a messy and sometimes frustrating job, but keeping our pastures safe and our animals protected means putting in the extra work to do it right the first time around! 💪🌞

Beet pulp is a great source of digestible fiber and cool energy for goats! 🐐🌾 It helps keep their digestion smooth, supports weight gain, and provides extra hydration when soaked in water. 💦✨
