When your horse and dog know how to act around a road🥰 This c**t is turning out to be so much fun! He’s started on cross rails and starting on the barrel pattern. He’s light on his feet and athletic in every way! He’s gonna be a winner. Will be for sale in a few months.

She was a little nervous at first, but after only 5 minutes she came around and realized the puddle wasn’t gonna eat her. Plenty of approach and retreat, and not letting her jump because I need her to learn to walk over obstacles. But for her first day out she was a champ❤️

This mare is big and beautiful! I can’t wait for her to be able to relax and enjoy some nice rides! She’s got such a sweet demeanor. She’s got some holes in her training that is causing a lot of anxiety for her, so I’m trying to work through that here. She’s been taught to freeze when anything is scary and she actually stops reacting to the outside world, so to fix this I try to keep her feet moving so she is mentally engaged with the training.

We got this guy at an auction end of June, this is his one month glow up.

He’s put on some nice weight and is starting to trust me, he’s one of the most nervous ones I’ve had in a while tho, so the process takes time.

I think Its easier to let him learn at his pace while we work on his physical health!

We have a few new projects around the farm.

This mule is extremely smart, unfortunately that has caused him to learn some bad habits in the past, but once we teach him not to jump the fences, or run through the fences, or yank the rope out of your hand and bolt… we will have a really awesome mule😋

He’s not been handled much I believe someone tried to train him and instead he learned how to get out of training. He does stand tied if you can get him tied before he yanks away😂 he knows if he’s tied to something solid and behaves like a gentleman till he sees a chance to get away with something ☺️ just my kind of guy!!

When Re-training you have to give them time to think, and room to correct themselves and not punishing them for messing up. Make your place a safe place for them to fail and then they will try harder because they are confident and calm.

I’m working on catching her. She’s been trained to run anytime you come into her pen, she turns the wrong way because she’s afraid. With a little patience and reassurance she’s learning that she can look at me, she doesn’t have to be afraid and I won’t whip her if she gets afraid and walks away or turns the wrong way.

Whipping/running a horse when they turn away from you is just drilling it into their head that you are predator and they are prey, and they are not safe with you. Instead build their confidence by showing them you won’t chase them when they are afraid. Just wait for them to stop and then walk away. This shows them they can trust you and gives them space to be curious and confident. Don’t force, Build trust.
