Ugh this heat is really taking it out of me. Rabbits are miserable. All 3 fans are running nonstop, they get bowls refilled in the morning, checked around noon, then fed in the evening.
Nobody is eating much so going to pick grass tomorrow to get their appetite going.
Electrolytes go in the water bowls.
As hot as it is, you really should offer water in bowls in addition to their normal water bottles.
If they go too long without eating, they are at risk of GI stasis where things stop moving through the gut and they can die very quickly.
Water in bottles does not take long to heat up and hot water is not appealing on a hot day.
Piglets are doing fine. Chris P Bacon is not. Unsure what happened but looks like we may have to put him down. He's very reluctant to get up and when he does, he's very unsteady and squeals, sometimes falls down. He knuckles over on the right front and rear, very wobbly. Almost acts like he can't see.
Gladly welcome any advice from more experienced pig people.

Meeting a few buyers this upcoming week and will update with what's available. So far in this heatwave we haven't lost any. Fans are running from 9am until about 8pm. Heat index is triple digits by 10am. They aren't eating much and every other day they are just getting hay. They seem to prefer the hay. Filling water bottles and bowls twice a day, adding electrolytes to the bowls once a day, every other day. They are hot and miserable but no heat distress.
Every summer and winter I'm questioning my sanity in raising rabbits but then I remember where I started and all the people I've sold stock to and started them on their meat rabbit journey. I remember the excitement and pride in having our first homegrown rabbit get his Grand Champion title. And with meat prices, it's just smarter to raise as much as you can and not depend on anyone else.

Still have the breeding pair of Flemish Giants available. $200. 1 1/2 years old, meet standard weight. Light Grey.
