🍄🐾 MUSHROOMS & DOGS: A TOXIC COMBINATION! 🐶⚠️
Fall brings beautiful leaves, cooler walks, and… mushrooms popping up everywhere! 🍂 While some mushrooms are harmless, many wild mushrooms can be highly toxic to dogs, and it can be difficult to tell the difference just by looking at them.
🐾 Keep your pups safe with these tips:
🍄 Keep noses off the ground! Watch closely during walks and sniff sessions.
🌿 Check your yard regularly and remove mushrooms before letting your dogs outside.
🚫 Never let your dog eat a wild mushroom, even if other animals seem to ignore it.
👀 Supervise outdoor adventures, especially after rain when mushrooms tend to grow.
🩺 Know what to do: If your dog eats a wild mushroom, contact your veterinarian or an animal poison control service immediately. Don’t wait for symptoms to appear, and don’t try to induce vomiting unless instructed by a veterinary professional.
Symptoms of mushroom poisoning can include vomiting, diarrhea, drooling, weakness, tremors, and seizures. Some toxins can cause delayed, life-threatening damage.
🍁 A little prevention goes a long way toward keeping our furry friends safe this fall!
