🎃🐾 Calling all dog moms and dads—let’s see those HOWL-o-ween costumes!

Our dogs are family, so why not include them in the Halloween fun? From adorable pumpkins to tiny superheroes, a cute costume is a playful way to showcase your dog’s personality, share a few smiles, and capture memories you’ll treasure. 📸🧡

At Michigan Dog Training in Plymouth, Michigan, we love celebrating the dogs who bring so much joy to our lives!

Keep it fun for your pup: choose a comfortable costume that allows free movement, clear vision, and easy breathing. TIP: If your dog is shy about having a costume put on over their head; entice them to put their own head through the neck hole by holding a tasty Halloween treat for them to consume on the other side.

If dressing up isn’t their thing, a festive bandana or a photo beside Halloween decorations is just as boo-tiful! 👻

👇 Share a photo of your dog in a Halloween costume—or posing next to Halloween decorations—in the comments! Tell us their name and what makes them your favorite little treat. 🐶🍬

🐾 Focus is a foundation of service dog training!

For Odie, a Service Dog in Training at Michigan Dog Training in Plymouth, Michigan, learning to pay attention to his trainer is an important step toward becoming a dependable partner for his future handler.

Other dogs, people, unfamiliar sounds, and new surroundings can all compete for a dog’s attention. Practicing calm focus helps Odie notice cues, respond to directions, and stay engaged while working around everyday distractions.

Service dog training goes beyond obedience—it includes learning when to engage with a handler and how to settle calmly without needing constant eye contact. These skills help build a foundation for public access training and disability-related task work.

Keep up the great work, Odie! 💙🐕. Pictured - MDT Trainer Jared.

Congratulations to Bello on graduating from Michigan Dog Training’s 6 Week Board and Train Program! 🎉🐾

Bello has made wonderful progress in his advanced obedience training and has learned how to remain calm and focused in real-world situations. One of his special accomplishments has been learning to walk calmly next to his mom and remain settled beside a baby stroller, which is especially meaningful as his family is expecting a child soon.

We are so proud of Bello’s hard work, and his parents, Hellen and Noel Deshpande, are incredibly proud of him too. Bello’s success is a great example of how training can help prepare dogs for important life changes while building better manners, confidence, and family harmony.

Congratulations again, Bello! We are excited for your bright future and all the wonderful moments ahead with your growing family. ❤️🐶👶

🐾 Another dog nearby? Odie, black Labrador Retriever and Bart, mixed terrier, are learning to stay focused!

At Michigan Dog Training in Plymouth, Michigan, Odie (Service Dog in Training) and Bart (private lesson client) are practicing two important skills in their training: heeling on a loose leash past another dog without stopping to play, and maintaining a down stay while the other dog walks by.

These exercises help Odie and Bart learn that seeing another dog doesn’t always mean playtime. Staying calm and attentive to their handlers around distractions builds a foundation for reliable service dog work and great pet life in everyday settings.

Keep up the hard work, Odie and Bart! 💙
