We hope you find old fashioned hospitality on this twenty-first century website. Paradise Produce is dedicated to producing the highest quality local food for our discerning customers. We use no chemicals, but instead through mineralization of the soil, balanced nutrition, and careful handling let the natural processes of the earth encourage our crops to yield bountifully. The family farm is disappearing with the continuation of industrialization and subsidy-supported agriculture. Inspired farmers have developed a way to promote community supported agriculture, or CSA, shares where customers can directly patronize the people who grow their sustenance. Please also come see us at the farmer’s markets we attend! Other than the fresh food, one of the biggest advantages to buying locally is having a connection with your farmer. Our Page will continue to help you stay in touch with what’s being planted, tended, and harvested during our busy growing season. We look forward to having a great produce season with you!

🎄 I DON'T want to do this for Thanksgiving. ❤

Thanksgiving will be here before we know it, and if you're anything like me, you've got enough to think about without running all over town looking for good vegetables for your holiday table!

🌼 Franklin friends, we're bringing our GOOD MUMS to market this Saturday, and we'd sure love to see you!

You know how some things just feel better when they're grown with a little extra care? That's how we feel about these mums. ❤️

We grow them without synthetic pesticides or synthetic fertilizers because we care about what goes into the ground, the little bees visiting our gardens, and the world we're leaving for our children.

And these aren't just mums to sit on your porch until Thanksgiving and then toss in the trash. You can plant them in your flower beds, give them a good home, and with a little luck and the right growing conditions, enjoy them again in seasons to come. 🌱

We like growing things that have a chance to put down roots and stick around awhile. Seems like a good way to do things, doesn't it?

Well, friends, we’ve had a mighty good time talking berries with y’all this fall! And we’ve got one more week of plant shopping before we tuck the nursery in for the season. ❤️

**THE SECRET TO HAPPY BLUEBERRIES AND CRANBERRIES? IT STARTS IN THE SOIL!**

A little old-fashioned farmer advice for anyone dreaming of a backyard berry patch!

You can buy the prettiest berry bushes around, but if you plant them in soil they don't like, you might end up with pretty bushes and mighty few berries. 😂

Here's what you need to know!

**BLUEBERRIES LIKE ACIDIC SOIL!**

Blueberries generally thrive in soil with a pH of **4.5–5.5**. If your soil is too alkaline, your plants can struggle to absorb nutrients, leading to yellow leaves, weak growth, and disappointing berry production.

🌱 **HOW DO YOU FIX IT?**

Start with a soil test! Peat moss mixed in the soil 50/50 and pine bark fines as a mulch can help create a more suitable growing environment. Elemental sulfur can lower soil pH, too, but it takes time to work and is easier to burn the roots. Follow your soil-test recommendations instead of guessing!

And remember, blueberries love consistent moisture but need good drainage. Don't plant them in a hole full of soggy soil and expect miracles! They also need 3-5 years to begin steady production.

🍒 **WHAT ABOUT CRANBERRIES?**

They're acid-loving plants, too! Cranberries generally prefer a pH around **4.0–5.5**. And here's the fun part: **you can grow cranberries without building a bog!** You just need the right acidic soil, moisture, and growing conditions. Cranberries bear faster than blueberries so you could see some berries the first year!

🌾 **A LITTLE FARMER'S WISDOM:** Prepare the soil before planting. Your berry bushes will thank you with healthier growth and better production down the road!

🚨 GIRL. You can grow KIWI in your backyard. And cranberries WITHOUT a BOG. 🤯🍒

Yep. We’re bringing some seriously cool, slightly weird fruiting plants to the farm this Saturday, and I need you to see these!

If you’ve ever wanted to be the person who casually says, “Oh, those berries? I grew them!” while everybody else is buying fruit at the grocery store… THIS IS YOUR MOMENT. 😂

Here are a few of the fun things we’re bringing:

🥝 **HARDY KIWI** – Actual kiwi fruit growing on a vine in your backyard! Give it a sturdy trellis and watch it climb.

❤️ **CRANBERRIES** – And listen to this… you don't need a cranberry bog! You can grow cranberry plants in your own garden -just use acidic soil amendments just like Blueberries. How freakin’ cool is that?!

💛 **GOLDEN RASPBERRIES** – Sweet golden berries that make your garden a little more interesting than the usual red-and-black lineup.
