The key to a calmer dog? Teach them how to do NOTHING. 👇🏼🐕

A lot of dogs don’t naturally know how to switch off, especially outside where there are so many distractions.

Calm behavior is something we can teach and reinforce.

1. Practice, practice, practice.
Your dog may not understand at first. Give them time and stay consistent.

2. Don’t ask for anything.
No commands. Stop for a few minutes and simply wait. Give your dog the opportunity to settle on their own.

3. Reward the calm.
When your dog relaxes, sits, lies down, or calmly observes their surroundings, reinforce that behavior.

4. Practice around distractions.
Dogs, people, birds, cars… Instead of allowing your dog to immediately react, teach them that they can simply observe and remain calm.

The more you practice this, the easier it becomes for your dog to settle anywhere… on walks, at a café, at the park, or just hanging out with you. 🐾

Calmness is a skill. Practice it.
SAVE this reel and try it on your next walk! 📌
