Over ninety percent of all behavior problems are related to the ability to effectively communicate with your dog. Research shows that every dog possesses a unique personality. According to Ivan’s observation and experience, behavioral characteristics of dogs differ to the same degree as they do in humans. Indeed, much of what is known about human personality types is also applicable to the study

of dog behavior. Every dog owner is well aware of the fact that Dogs are pack animals. However, these packs are structurally dynamic, different dogs also possess different drives. Breeds that are generally more responsive to human command, also usually manifest higher levels of socialized behavior in pack situations. This tendency leads many to conclude that dogs that are more socialized also possess a higher level of intelligence, than dogs that are more autonomous in their behavior. Reality check:
Electric collars have saved more lives that the super “safe” SSRI’s (which come with the nuclear level black box warning on them) EVER will!

When I originally posted this response to Dr. Radosta’s (AVSAB) ideology driven nonsense, for some reason none of the famous 4-6 loud mouth R+ social media warriors responded 🤷🏻‍♂️
Typically they would drop at least one word salad line that will include Fear/Intimidation/Pain/Shock ,Evidence based , science tells us, quick fix, would you this to a child, etc. here on my page or at least amongst their group.

To make it more easy for you to comment, I will say that AVSAB is a fraud as a whole!
AVSAB are *not the know it all about behavior (never mind training dogs) moreover their understanding of real life dog behavior and how to control it is BELLOW kindergarten level!

Recently, Dr. Michael Bailey, President of the American Veterinary Medical Association, commented on the use of electronic collars in dog training. That comment triggered backlash and a strong response from Dr. Lisa Radosta, President of the American College of Veterinary Behaviorists.

But this presentation is not about personalities.

It’s about the claim that aversives never have a place in dog training.

Using peer-reviewed research, learning theory, and real-world outcomes, I examine whether the “no aversives ever” position is actually supported by evidence and what happens to dogs when ideology overrides results.

At the end, I invite you, the trainers and owners, to share stories of dogs who are alive today because balanced training worked when nothing else did.

Outcomes matter.

IGP was a protection dog sport. Removing stick hits changed that. The padded stick hit was never abuse — it was the only objective way to expose a dog’s true fight character under confrontation. Without real adversity, we are judging choreography, not courage.
